was the VS ever released with an LS1

No, they had 215kw. Also, the first LS1s had 225kw.

How pathetic would you have to be to actually bid on this?

the worst rear ride height picture

Yes. SS has FE2. Omega has stock suspension. All VEs sit high at the rear. It's how they're designed. Look at one next to a VY/VZ (or any previous model for that matter) and you'll see that they're the highest.

Could be legit. I've seen a few like that. Can't tell from the pics. That's the real test.

VPs weigh somewhere aroud 1400 to 1500 kg. Worst case they're 2.7 litres per tonne. Using the same methodology for a VY yields 2.4 litres per tonne. Provided it is below both the 125kw/tonne and 3.5 litres/tonne threshholds, yes. Old V8 Statesmans are popular with P platers here, because...

We already have those laws in Vic. Have had for many years. P platers are limited to cars with less than 125kw/tonne or with engines smaller than 3.5 litres/tonne.

    Mobil 1 - 10w30 - Fully Synthetic

Why? I use it, because it's what the book says to use. I change it every 5,000km anyway. Just came back from a 1,900km trip with no discernible oil usage - according to the dipstick.

    I like Ebay but....

Is that the genuine Holden service CD?? If so, do you want to sell it?? It has to cover the V8 too though....

    Mobil 1 - 10w30 - Fully Synthetic

At the end of the day, as long as you change it at 5,000km intervals, it doesn't matter what brand of oil you use. The important thing is changing it at 5,000km intervals. The 15,000km Holden specifies for the VZ V6 engine is absolutely ridiculous. If you really want your engine to last...

To all the people saying "it's just a VP and couldn't be worth more than $2k": Are any of you aware that this is an extremely rare car? There were fewer than 70 (SEVENTY) VP Series II HSV Formula Commodores made. I'd be putting all the original gear back on it and advertising it on an...

    VZ SS Diagnostic Mode

Not as far as I'm aware. The Berlina/Calais dash has the instant fuel reading and a couple of others not in the standard dash. Not water temp though. Have you seen these: http://www.aeroforcetech.com/ They have a heap of different readings that even diagnostic mode doesn't. Not cheap...

    VZ SS Diagnostic Mode

Holding Mode & Set while turning the ignition key will get you into the dashboard's diagnostic mode. Mechanical diagnostics are only available with a scanning tool, such as the Tech2 device Holden use.

SHYHII 35K for sale on EBAY

$65K on a VK for only 620 horsepower? Mate, you could buy a BRAND NEW SS, put a GenTT kit on it and still have change from $65K. The end result would blow the doors off that VK and do it drinking far less fuel to boot. If you don't believe me, check this out...

    Oil in Coolant Reserve

V8 or V6? Many coolants are oily in texture anyhow. Did you change it yourself or did a workshop do it? The brown substance may be from deposits in your engine or heater core if it they weren't flushed properly. What would I do? Drive it around for a few more weeks, but keep an eye on...

Check the relays. They're in the fuse box.

    How To Stop Fuse-Box Melting

Check that your headlight relays are OK. Sounds like you could have a dodgy one. I'd put another relay in the circuit (between the original relays and the headlights) if you wanna be certain. This will take all the load off the original items.

P Platers and High Performance cars.....

But there's a massive difference between a trained d1ckhead who knows how to escape/avoid sticky situations and your average garden variety knob. I'm all for different levels of license. Makes a lot of sense to me. If you wanna drive a powerful car, you should be required to attend advanced...

P Platers and High Performance cars.....

As mentioned above, you're confusing ability with experience. Why should you not be allowed to drive a powerful car if you've earned the right to?

    Australias Best Muscle Car?

I wouldn't say so. "New school" kicks the ass of "old school" in terms of reliability. Little things like contact points which wear away, carby jets which clog up, manifold gaskets which develop leaks, etc, etc, etc, are all things of the past. EFI and electronic ignition ensure that...

    Australias Best Muscle Car?

Airstrike summed it up. 13s with little work. As has already been said "...like to see that out of a small block..." Ah, but you don't have to. All the software packages I mentioned are publically available for the backyarder. Its light, powerful & its an American V8. What's not to like?

    Australias Best Muscle Car?

Yes you can. You've just gotta be "smarter than your equipment"... Check out HPtuners, LS1edit, Flashscan... They're all software programs designed to let you get your hands dirty, just like you did way back when. The engine itself is still the same & still works the same way they used to...

    Calling computer people

Well, if one was so inclined, one could go to Google and search for "xp sp2 serial keygen" and possibly find something which works.... seriall.com & all that... Not that I've ever done anything like this... *cough*

P Platers and High Performance cars.....

Bada-boom-bingo. We should have several license classes. Keeping with Vic's current theme of "anything over 125kw/tonne is high powered.." we could have these classes: 1. Under 125kw/tonne without forced induction. 2. Under 125kw/tonne with forced induction. 3. Over 125kw/tonne (fi & non fi)...

VT does not start when warm

As discussed in this thread: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=29038 It sounds like the crank angle sensor. On V6s it is located behind the harmonic balancer.

Yeah. That's what you need. Such drives won't work on plain old xp. If you check the link I posted, you'll see that SP1 is the minimum requirement.

R8 wheels on VS Calais II ?

Is that a photoshop? The proportions just don't look right. Anyway, its your car mate. Do as you please and don't worry about everyone else. The only problem as I see it is the hub sizes. Wheels are supposed to be tight fitting on the hub. If there is any clearance at all, you can snap...

Bad earth on the light switch at the particular door in question. Easy to fix. Remove the switch and clean the contact. It will all become obvious when you remove the switch.

Sage advice. 9 out of 10 police persons are more than reasonable if you co-operate with them. But in your case, with so many points already... If it were a first or second offence you might have gotten away with it.

    Squeaky wheels?

If the bearings make any audible sound when the wheel is turned by hand (obviously with the front of the car off the ground...), then they need replacing. If your bearings are buggered, you might wanna check the state of your brake rotors as well - they might need replacing too.
