They both have the exact same colour wires in the exact same spots and are both the exact same plug. Neither of them however engage cruise control. The original plug did work at one stage which leads me to believe the module is fried. I still have no idea where the second plug belongs though...

You're correct, it would be the foglight as the other sides plug was hiding. Still Stumped on the cruise control one though? The module has the exact same plug but it's already in it and this one is just sitting around.

Cruise control would make sense seeing as it doesn't work, clicks at the dash and fuses are fine but doesn't light up or turn on. I don't see it's partner anywhere though? Fog lights would also make sense however the other side as you suggested does't have the plug, might be a one plug...

You squeeze the sides of the plug (Pliers are handy but not too tight) and gently wriggle the plug out. Then slap a socket on and twist it out. Just a reminder that I'm giving you advice on how to remove the sensor and not giving you sex tips.
