Updates on the green machine - for anyone interested.

Good to hear things are on the improve, hope they stay that way. I have a rattle\creak in the drivers door, asked 2 dealers to have a look both claimed to have fixed it, both had different methods. I still have the same rattle\creak. For the moment I will just mention it every time it goes in...

    Door Seal or Window Seal

I have a rattle in the drivers side door. Mentioned it several times, the first time they claimed to fix it they sprayed silicone spray in the gap with the window down. Second time they said they replaced something, not sure what jargon they used, it sounded like a good story, pity the rattle...

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

Holden are aware of the issue. No solution as they say it's a design attribute not a defect. They have noted my concern. Four mechanics have also acknowledged it, three tried to fix it before they got back to me saying they all do it, manual L98's. Mates ute has had tune exhaust headers OTR...

I'm not complaining about my fuel consumption, although I'm very upset with my average speed.

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

I thought I would add this "The six-speed manual has fourth gear as a direct drive ratio, with, in the Series II, a higher fifth gear ratio, and a highway cruising sixth." I'm sure it has the same gear ratios as my MY9.5 wagon. Interesting that the reporter thought to write this in. Here is...

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

Exactly right. And I have even managed to feel it in a tuned vehicle. Going right back to before I purchased the car, part of the appeal was that it's not exactly the last word in refinement or engine technology. To put it another way compared to other performance car engines I've driven it's...

Auto or Manual - SS VE Series 2

Are you sure the Manual is now AFM. As far as I can tell the auto motor is a L76 and the manual is a L98. The engineering in the L98 doe's not allow for AFM and is 10kw up on power, and the torque figure is also higher. If you got the info from a dealer salesman double check it. Having looked...

    VE SS engine covers

You could get creative and modify your current cover. Some one on the G8 forum did this.

Anyone had problems with spitting off air-con belts on 6.0Ltr motors?

I think Conan the librarian drives a G8 GXP, so that's a bit of a generalization you are making ! YouTube - UHF Conan The Librarian

    VE SS engine covers

My engine cover seems to be doing well sitting in storage. Seems to be the go these days with all modern cars and bikes, even the Benz's need to hide the engines. The Italians are on the money with the Ferrari and Ducati engine presentation. But alas our wallets are only so deep, and thus...

    Rotors and pads

I saw a highway patrol SS on the weekend it had slotted discs. It also looked lowered I asked the cop if it was lowered and he said it had a heap of gear in the back, so the weight was pushing it down. If bling is all they're good for, I wonder why the chase car has them ? cheers

    VE SS vs VE SS-V

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the SSV in Voodoo had a blue cluster, but from what your saying they don't. Is the only difference the SS and V8 embossed under the speedo and tacho ?

    Ve series 2

Is it just me ? or are other folks going to miss the V8 6.0 litre badges under the front indicators. They are better than a series 2 badge IMO.

    VE SS vs VE SS-V

Grrrrrr the digital speedo's so 2 decades ago LOL. Don't tell the guy's with the Honda S2OOO'S. I remember going in a friends mum's Ford Fairmont in 1997 it had the digital speedo. Never forget those lifts I got off her, I used to watch the speedo and her two feet both being used at the same...

    VE SS vs VE SS-V

I looked at both. Couldn't justify the extra cash, and wasn't fussed with the holden leather. And I can't handle the scratches on the seats in older cars. I would probably up grade the stereo anyway in both. Believe or not I prefer the style of the 18 inch wheels over the standard 19's on the...

    Using different grades of fuel

I use BP ultimate in my car. Also used it in the Honda I had before. The lower grade fuels have a slower throttle response, and that just makes me put my foot down more, so in the end theirs no economy in the cheaper fuels for me. Cheers

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

Got the car back today. The mechanics have been fantastic, they have done all in there power and can feel exactly what the car is doing. Now that they know about it they can get all VE SS manual V8's to do same, thus it's in the computer software. Not sure why my mates ute did not do it, and...

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

Customer care got back to me, can't go into too much detail now but they have told me other vehicles brand new at the dealer are doing the same thing. The dealer has also told me same. When I asked for a description of the issue I was told " it's an attribute of the vehicle " Seem as I...

Calling all VE SS Manual owners low rev range problem

I know what you mean but it's not that. Mine you are just cruising along and then it surges, if it happens in 5th and I change up to 6th it stops surging so it's definitely not labouring. Also if you floor it in the same gear eg 5th it stops surging.
