Warranty Claim - Am i being reasonable?

I sorta think it is a bit unreasonable :( Cars, like most things have a return to base warranty. U take the item back to the service place and they fix it. Maybe Holden should offer add-ons for the warranty for stuff like that. It's similar but not the same as if someone buys a computer...

That Datsun setup sounds sick! What turbo were U running?
  3. B

    E85

not really when it's 0.01% dispersed fairly evenly in the fuel
  4. B

    E85

My S14 had a broken gearbox for about 7 months without being driven at all with half a tank of E85 then I fixed, warmed it up, straight on to full boost and the knock readout was exactly the same as always. Also IF there is a small amount of water dispered in the fuel, water has a great heat...

    E85

Fuel lines etc. became ethanol friendly back in about 1996 or something. My S14 which is a 1999 model has a plastic fuel tank and that's been fine for 18 months. The colour of the **** in the fuel filter is nothing like the colour of the fuel tank. Also last time I cheched my fuel pump's pickup...

    E85

Yep same here in TAS. It's ****. In my next street car (S15), i'm gonna do suspension etc. first then wait for pump E85 before doing the engine build (10:1 comp + 17psi on 98 = FAIL lol)
  7. B

    E85

Yep at least 2 years by the drum and at 3 or 4 United servos then they stopped it from the pump (re-introduced now).
  8. B

    E85

That's a myth IMO. I think it's more like about 1990 give or take 5 years and older that u need to worry about. I've been running E85 for 18 months without the slightest problem. Yes when you first use it, the fuel filter will be very dirty after about 5000km because it cleans much better than...

    E85

It won't need fuel system parts changed unless it's got at least a cam then fuel pump and injectors might need upgrading. Tune yes
  10. B

    E85

Lol my S14 is running just fine on E85 thanks. I have 4x 200L drums of it in Dad's shed. That's tuned for it obviously. I'm not talking about performance tuned cars. Just the everyday get from a to b cars designed to run on 91. At least 95% of cars designed to run on 91 RON regular would have...
  11. B

    E85

That's why regular unleaded needs to be phased out. About 30% ethanol would be ideal as a minimum grade fuel because it would still work fine in existing cars. Also there is no way Ethanol could be produced in enough volume to run E85 in all cars on the road which is why I think 30% would be...
  12. B

    E85

If you build an engine with a higher high compression ratio to make full use of the fuel, fuel consumption loss is MUCH better than 30%. Ethanol has about 30% less energy BUT if you make the burn more efficient with high compression ratio, it gets more power out of the same amount of air so more...

    E85

E85's advantage is most apparent with either lots of boost, very high compression ratio or a bit of both. My brother just finished his 1UZ-FE build. Just 14:1 compression pistons (Originally 10:1), E85 and bigger cams pretty much. It went from 150rwkw to 270rwkw! That's a 4L N/A engine that...

    Staggered option...pros & cons?

If u have the correct sized tyres on the 20's then they should be the same outer diameter as the original wheels and spare.
  15. B

    sv6 20x10s

It's TOTALLY dependent on the offset of the wheel.
  16. B

    potenza tyres

Any 245/35R19 that sells for $100 must be SUCH a **** tyre. Why buy a great car that comes with great tyres then downgrade stuff? Tyres are probably THE most important part of a car.
  17. B

    potenza tyres

I've used stock Bridgestones and Falken FK452 and I find the FK452 better, especially in the wet. I can do 245/45R18 FK452's for $267 each. Cheers, Brad tyres4less.com.au

ultra lows and super lows with stock wheels

both will fit fine. the prob is, the lower u go, the more u notice how far in from the guards the stock wheels are. stock wheels + big spacers + low looks sweeet though!

SIDI SV6 SERIES I - excessive engine oil consumption

Sounds like it wasn't driven hard enough during the first 500km. The best way to run in an engine and bed in the rings properly is to give it heaps of load (but not too many revs). So pretty much take it round lots of windy roads and drive as hard as u can till about 5000rpm then change up...

    New 20" Tyres :(

odd tyres are a good way to wear out an LSD too. My bro put odd sized tyres on the rear of his corolla wagon with a welded diff lol. CONSTANTLY wanting to turn and if u hold it straight, the tyres chirp when driving straight HAHA.

    New 20" Tyres :(

    VE SS UTE ON 22's

There are plenty of load rated tyres for 22's about, but none low profile enough to be a legal outer diameter, defeating the purpose of having the right load rating because they're still illegal. The HIGHEST profile tyre you can get away with is a 265/25R22. which, if you could even find this...

    New 20" Tyres :(

That's a fair bit cheaper than my cost. Whatever you're in on, I want in on too HAHA. They RRP at $534.60. I thought my $259 was good!
  24. B

    New 20" Tyres :(

275/30R20: Falken FK452: $419 (Can do for $415 for now with bank transfer as I'm not paying merchant fees yet) Kumho KU31: $259 Kumho KU19: $259 The tyres I can get huge discounts on seem to be mainly in the 16" to 18" range but I believe those prices should still be very competitive...
  25. B

    New 20" Tyres :(

Not necessarily. It's all about how common they are rather than a case of bigger = more expensive. My costs to run my business are VERY low which is why I can sell tyres so cheap. I host the site/email and I'm building the site myself to save money which is passed on to the customer with...

Can you put VZ Aftermarket Wheels on VE?

Just fit hub centering rings (very common and easy to make up custom ones) and drill out the holes to 14mm. Problem solved. It's not like aftermarket wheels fit perfectly to VZ hub centres either.
  27. B

    New 20" Tyres :(

FK452 in 245/45R18 are $267 each plus about $10 each per tyre freight if you're not too far from a major city. I'll double check tomorrow. Also I should have a Kumho price list maybe tomorrow, if not, Monday.
  28. B

    VE SS UTE ON 22's

Yep pretty much because U can't get tyres low profile enough to be under 15mm from stock rolling diameter and if U could, they wouldn't have a load rating high enough.
  29. B

    New 20" Tyres :(

I'll get a price on some Falken FK452's for U tomorrow. They're an awesome tyre. I should be able to have them shipped direct to you from a distributor in Brisbane at a crazy good price! Cheers, Brad [email protected] New web site coming soon!

    VE SS UTE ON 22's

It seems to be a massive misconception on ALL commodore-related forums that you will need to roll the guards once U go over x width. It's TOTALLY dependent on the offset of the wheel as to wether it will rub or not. Person X might have 10.5" wide rims with 285's and +60 offset and no rubbing...

    Performance Upgrades......Your thoughts?

The Omega 175kw version of the Alloytec engine really is NOT worth modifying. My Dad's got a VZ S Ute with the Alloytec 175, pacemaker extractors and a good exhaust and it's still a total bucket of rubbish compared to a stock MY10 SV6 SIDI. I know it'd cost you a bit extra, but have a look at...

Pedders Coilovers - where to get the cheapest price >

BC Racing, Greddy and Pedders are all made in the same factory from the same range of parts in Taiwan. They are good products and very good bang for buck. They are not made in China. The new BC Racing coilovers ARE better than Pedders XA (Like old BC Racing V1)
  33. B

Pedders Coilovers - where to get the cheapest price >

Pedders XA coilovers are BC's old generation "V1" coilovers. They're not LIKE V1 coilovers, they ARE V1 coilovers. BC have since developed a newer "BR" series. BC Racing BR series coilovers to suit VE will be in Australia within a couple of weeks at the most. Plenty of sets have already been...

    Ve series 2

Has anyone else noticed that before, the 3.6L SV6 had 210kw (measured with 91 RON) and now it has 210kw (measured with 98 RON) so whatever they did other than aerodynamics to save fuel, has lost is probably about 10kw or so. Hopefully it's just in tuning and not smaller cams.
  35. B

VE SV6 - which wheels look better?

I agree. Holden wheels look sweet and simple. I just hate that they don't fill the guards and that the tyres muffin top over the rim to save the nanna's from scratching when parking. I would go with SSV wheels widened to 19x9.5 and 19x11 and spacers if it wasn't so darn expensive to do!

The OFFICIAL VE ALLOYTEC V6 SUPER MASSIVE FUN HAPPY TIME exhaust thread!!!!!!!11!!!!

If u make an SV6 loud, it'll sound like ass, trust me. They're known for it. You'll never get it to sound like a 350Z or similar V6. Too loud and they just sound like something ain't right.

    Ve v8 otr cai

I'm very interested to see these results of Aftermarket OTR CAI vs AFTERMARKET inner guard CAI.
  38. B

    Ve v8 otr cai

I don't presonally see the point in OTR CAI's in VE's. I understand in earlier models, there was nowhere else to pick up a good stream of cold air from but in VE's, there is a gaping hole in the engine bay specifically for cold air already. From what i can see, you'd get a better air stream from...

    What size Cam to get

330rwkw is gonna be bloody hard to get without losing a lot of driveability. i'd consider getting a LS3 long engine for about $6k and selling the L98 for about $3k. so u'll be $3k out of pocket but have a higher compression ratio and higher capacity which will both allow u to run a bigger cam...

    What size Cam to get

Instead of older grinds that a lot of people have already, i'd be looking at some of the new Comp Cams signle bolt cams designed to suit the new L98/L76/LS3 heads (which is what you have). Also they bolt straight in with the stock cam sprocket and chain. This is a great one for broad power...
