    VP-VS Inlet/Head Gasket Replacement Differences

I wouldn't even bother with the head gaskets if it only has 150,000km on it. Not sure if any torque settings are any different but you wouldn't need them if you just do the inlet manifold gaskets. Pulling the heads off is a lot more work compared to just the manifold.

WOW the price you dont pay!

We're not all that bad. But then again I live in a small town and have my own workshop so I like to make sure every car that goes out is 100%. Any vehicle that leaves I want to know is not going to come back.

    Bucks Night

Not sure what all the fuss is about strippers. Ive been to a few buck shows.. Make sure you have plenty of alcohol and a good place to camp the night and everything else will sort itself out. At mine we camped at a beach played some beach cricket, took all the 4WDs to the sand dunes for a few...

    Project VH

I havnt measured the sides yet as I am not ready to fit the door vents but hopefully there is enough room without cutting to much from the dash or door trims. How is your project going? I have been away and have been trying to catch up on all my other work so I havnt been able to work on mine...

    Another VK V6

I havn't got round to the heater controls yet but will definetly fill you in when I do. I have got the dash in place and am hoping to do the same as you with the door vents but havn't done any measurements yet to try and fit them. I might try and get one started this week. First thing I want to...

Post pics of you're engine bays here!!!!!

Hey Danny8. Yeah I think I went a bit overboard, but wanted tuned length runners and also had to make sure I could still get to all the plugs and the oil cap. Just my "little project" at work so time isn't really an issue. Hope to get some more pics up soon as i plumb in the oil lines and fit my...

    Twin Turbo Ecotec

Hi Steve, I own a workshop in SA and am currently working on my old VK. I have fitted an Ecotec out of a VT and have built a set of turbo manifolds for it. I am running a complete loom from a VR as I am fitting the complete interior aswell and wanted to run without a MAF. I now have...

Check out my work Facebook page Streaky Bay Mechanical. Has a few extra pics along with the 1 tonner I'm working on. I try to keep it updated as much as I can.

Alloytec 190 into WB 1 tonner

Got my hands on a HK today but no luck as the crossmember is still at the front. Will have to find another option. Completely stripped the interior of both cars today. Got the drivers seat in place along with the centre console and have started to modify the dash to fit. Looks like it is going...

    Project VH

Check out my thread. Another VK V6. I have been working on fitting a VR dash with a full VR loom(including BCM), an ecotec out of a VT and twin turbo's From a Nissan Patrol. The VR dash so far has been a pretty easy exercise but I havn't finished it yet. I'm planning on a full VR interior...

Here are a few pics of the interior as of today when i got the centre console in place. Still working on plumbing in the turbos so I can give it a good run.

Alloytec 190 into WB 1 tonner

I will keep u posted on the progress. I was told today that maybe a HT crossmember would be a good choice as they had the sump at the front of the vehicle and not the back like the WB. I will do a bit of research and let you know as it might even help with yours. tomorrow I am going to start...

    Another VK V6

Yeah everything has been custom made so it all looks a bit different. At the moment it is all completely stock, but once I have had it running and worked the tune out a bit I'm planning on rebuilding the whole lot. I want to run about 20psi into it and was thinking of fitting a MACE girdle for...

    Servicing Vn v6

I'm with shane_3800. I get so many people coming to my workshop who have "serviced" their own car and wonder why it is running like **** or rattling. All they ever do is drop the oil and maybe change the filter.

Here are a few pics. Sorry about the quality as they r taken on my phone. Hav got the interior a bit furhter since these were taken and now have the radiator in and wiring tidied up.

    Another VK V6

Finally got the VK running. The ecotec seems to run well with the Buick loom. Only problem I had was I had 2 of the leads round the wrong way. Gave it a bit of a run without the turbos on as I have not yet got the oil lines finnished. That is the next job on the agenda. I have fitted the VR dash...

Alloytec 190 into WB 1 tonner

The hours I was talking about was putting the dash in. The loom I would send away to get done but if they want the dash in I have about $1800. to play with which equal about 30 or so hours of my time. I have all the motor and box out of the WB and have sat the alloytec in place. I will either...

Alloytec 190 into WB 1 tonner

The owners are now wanting the VZ dash in the WB. If I do end up putting it in I will not have to modify the loom as I will be running the BCM and all. I figure I can spend about 30-40 hrs putting it in and they will not be anymore out of pocket than getting the loom modified. How far have u got...

How to get the supercharger whine louder

Drain the oil out. It wont last long but will be loud as.

    De-Supercharging L67 and manualising ?!?!?!

I'm not sure if anyone here did maths at school but 12.6 doubled is 25.2 which is a far cry from 17.3. Either way installing a CAI shouldn't increase fuel economy but improve it. A t56 behind the l67 would probably be the best choice but why de-charge it?

    Anyone got any ideas?

Alloytec 190 into WB 1 tonner

Just chasing some info for a project at work. I have a customer with a WB 1 tonner and also a wrecked vz thunder ute. Anyway he wants me to fit the alloytec and 6 spd manual into the tonner. I was just wondering if anyone has done a similar conversion before. I cant find anyone who makes engine...

LS1 LOUD knocking noise with Video

Probably. I have only swaped a short motor and a couple of s/hand ones and the wreckers like to take everything they can off before sending it to you. Then what they do leave is the wiring loom whick has been completely destroyed and you have to remove it before you can do much.

LS1 LOUD knocking noise with Video

4 hours to remove and replace an ls1. I think u might be dreaming there. I've pulled out a few ls1's but by the time u get it out and then swap all your manifolds etc over its definetly not a 4 hour job. If u can though tell me and u have yourself a job.

Check engine light after plug change

I did the same on a VE yesterday and founf that the plug right on the back of the manifold was still unplugged. It's pretty hard to see. Even after I plugged it in and started the car the engine light was still on so I had to plug in the scan tool and clear all codes for it to go out.

    l67 in a Gemini... engineerable??

I saw a few years back in Street Machine a guy had a Gemini with a 350 in it. Completely street legal. It dit have a roll cage and racing harnes but still street legal. So I dont see why a v6 would be much of a hassle.

    Another VK V6

Got my turbo manifolds all tacked up today. Just have to clean them up a bit now and weld them properly. Have made them tuned length so it was a bit of a task to get them fitted in but I think they look good. Next up will be the intake. I want to put on a decent intercooler but that will have...

    VK Twin Turbo Ecotec Tune

I was just going to get a standard VR unit. Then hopefully get a tune to suit. What would be the best option? What would I need if I was to do it myself? I still don't know what boost I will be running. At the moment I'm just getting everything running. Then I will be doing a full rebuild on the...

    VK Twin Turbo Ecotec Tune

Just wondering about getting a tune done for my project when it is ready to fire up. I'm running a VT ecotec with a complete VR loom(including BCM). I have already fitted all the buick sensors to the ecotec. I am still in the process of building my turbo manifolds and am unsure of how to go...

Took out the windscreen today so I can start to get the dash mounted properly. Looks like it is going to fit pretty well. Width is the same but height may be a bit different. Just want to get it running first. Got the new fuel lines run with a return line. Today I fitted the MAT sensor from the...

    Another VK V6

Got the motor and fuel tank in today. Next week the dash will be coming out of the VR. Got the return fuel line ready to go aswell. Got the turbo flanges cut out and now the engine is in I can start to make the turbo manifolds up. Can't wait until it is all ready to fire up.

    Another VK V6

You cant swap the tops over I tried that. Different size shocks. Plus I didn't want the VK suspension. The VK strut is a press fit in the bottom and the VR is held in with 2 bolts. I can also now ajust the wheel alignment a hell of a lot easier with the camber bolt on the VR suspension. Just to...

    Another VK V6

Just an update on the VK. Finally got the old girl down to my workshop. Have completely stripped the interior including the dash (ready for the vr unit), all seats, centre console and carpet. Got the tired old 202 and auto out. I have ended up using a VR cross member complete with brakes...

I started my apprentaship about 10 years ago now. So I'm fully qualified and love what I do. I started my own business nearly 2 years ago and it's the best thing I've ever done. All the hard work actually pays off rather than it going in someone else's pocket. To answer your question a bit...

Hey holdenman308 hows the conversion coming along? Mine has come to a complete halt. Got to much work on to be able to get on with it. The only thing I have done is cut out my turbo manifold flanges. and I also have a heap of bends so I'm ready to go when the motor is in. Hopefully I can get...
