I wacked some 55w HID's bi's in mine and would not go back to halogen, 5 times brighter with the big VK reflector. Does not run hot at all.

Try the headlight switch in the car, pull it out with a blade screwdriver. My head lights stopped working but had parkers and rear lights, fuses fine. It was the brown wire going into the switch which had dropped out of its socket or could be your switch if everything else is ok and no power.
