Audio - AUX IN audio hiss/buzzing noise issues ? VE 2007

    One for the Omega owners

Mate, I know the buttons would be much easier to program, but from my very brief experience in the industrial design field, people generally (almost universally) seem to like the analog knobs. Especially over those film-coated buttons... Or are they physically distinct buttons? it's hard to...

    Good CarvBut Bad Marketing Holden

OMFG I have to side with the H on this one. Firstly, if you understood even marketing 101, the GPS situation is where they put in the bare bones, and recoup the development cost by selling addon features. GM and Holden marketing IS abysmal, and that's certainly not where they spent the...

    Sv6 starting chime

Bloody nice, That is a great way to get rid of all those annoying noises at once! If you have the time, I think you should take a few photos & write a "how-to" in that section, I'm sure there are lots of people sick of those noises... :beer chug:

    Radio Face plate dimensions

Mate, seriously are you going to get something "machined up" from dimensions given to you by some joker on the internet? Secondly, the worth of your Holden once shipped and VATed would be equivalent to a late model 911 Porsche. But if you love it that much, your choice... I would contact...

    Sv6 starting chime

What a dude... answers the question properly and fixes it. Thats the spirit! Oh yeah, by indicators you mean the chimes right? Not the actual indicators, which I think are a fricking noisy relay... BTW the legalities of not having a seatbelt chime you will nOt need to lose any sleep over...

    Ve sv6 2006 electics

Sounds like it could be an intermittent earth on your power. Is the buzzing in tune with motor revs? Do any of the other electrics do a similar thing at the same time?

picking up my series 2 sv6 wagon tomorrow. any advice

Your most important "first new car" lesson is go back to the dealer a week later and compare their "helpful attitude" to when just before you signed the contract. If like most customers, you're buying a car that has been sitting on a lot for months, there is a clause in the contract that...

    Tyres

OR, you could sell the stupid sized, impractical Holden mags on eBay, and buy the steel wheels and a set of BJ's Allrounders and spend the change on something actually useful. They will keep you in contact with the road quite nicely, and you'll never worry about kerbing your rims again!.

    Digital Radio DAB+ Headunits

It's Exactly like FM transmitters. Except for a couple of very niche apps, it's like copying your DVDs to VHS. I wouldn't hold your breath on Holden releasing their "own" DAB anytime in the next 5-10yrs. Till a few months ago they seemed to have thought that everyone was still using their CD...

    Sv6 starting chime

Thanks - I knew it wasn't just me... A chime for seatbelt - seems somewhat reasonable... A chime for turning the thing on? - Royale PITFA!

    Sv6 starting chime

Is it just me, or has everyone missed the OPs point? There is a chime that occurs when you turn the ignition on regardless of whether you have the seatbelt on or not. Is that not what the OP was talking about??? If anyone knows how to disable that chime - the "welcome" (schite), I'd be...

SS S2 sportwagon "clunk" when cold

It's the ABS self test. And that's very accurate description, it is supposed to happen once you reach 30 kmh for the first time after start up. You won't get it in a BMW, it's just another brilliant design "feature" by Holden.

    Unreliable VE

I spent several years repairing TVs in my youth. The number of times I heard "I think it's the switch..." I lost count. Likewise I'm sure an auto electrician with the chestnut "I'm sure it's the battery!!" Look deeper, use the force...

Can the graphics in the VE cluster be turned off ?

Mate, you can't even get rid of the useless dead-weight stereo, which Holden thinks is perfectly normal in the 21st century. There weren't any HVAC controls in the EK's wireless... I can just see the engineer's faces now - "let's put in an option to disable the cute anime that we spent twice...

Installing 6x9's on the rear Parcel Shelf of my VE Omega....HELP please

I must have cut & pasted incorrectly hehehe. Hey by the way, um.. mate - you seem to have some 103 posts and you haven't gotten round to reading the forum rules yet? Might want to reel it in there.../IG

Rear view mirror keeps falling off

LMFAO at the dude talking about "shitting build quality" using cardboard to mount his subs. No, actually I love it, the extra resonance will give you even more than 1dB!!! Wicked. And all mirrors will fall off, and everyone will live happily ever after...

    Any early sv6 problems?

Dude, the transmission is pretty F#ck'n far from a "tiptronic", the 07 is not even a 6 speed... And fun?... It's a VE. Nuff said.

Yeah, go right ahead that will work fine. Just make sure to use a fuse, you wouldn't want to burn the VE now, would you?

Rear view mirror keeps falling off

Dude, this is one of the few things you CANT blame on "shitting commodore build quality" [sic]. It's more likely to be due to his initial repair job, which obviously sucked. They will all fall off even on a Mercedes eventually... You can drill through the windscreen perhaps, and bolt that...

Installing 6x9's on the rear Parcel Shelf of my VE Omega....HELP please

He has effectively done nothing of the sort! He went to great detail to describe the wiring he changed, that should give you a hint... There shall indeed be sound for years to come, good on ya for having a go, very rare quality these days unfortunately.!>.
  28. B

    What wires??

Dude, your amp is not going to be drawing anywhere NEAR 135A, which is what 4G is rated at continuously. You will have to buy, drive around and eventually throw away all that wasted copper. Pick a more sensible size from this chart... American Wire Gauge table and AWG Electrical Current...

    E85

You are comparing 98RON with E85, yes? Dude, maths is something that's superfluous, or "not-going-to-assist" in this instance. OMFG.
  30. B

    E85

Dude, there is seriously no way known that your "Nissan 200SX S14" is going to run on e85 OR e30. So how will it "work fine in existing cars"??? I fail to understand your logic, or the e85 juggernaut's for that matter...
  31. B

    E85

It's lucky it uses 30% more fuel, it looked like the guys were going to claim perpetual motion next! :blah blah: So for 30% extra cost (allowing for equal price at pump, which it WILL be) you get a staggering 4% increase in power! Top stuff indeed!

    Stupid Question

On account of the wheels driving the shaft via the diff, yes it's spinning... Exactly the same as a manual.

"Asking Holden to help"... You didn't learn your original lesson now, did you? Way more info needed, as others have said.

    VE Servicing

That better not have cost you a cent in expenses or damages... If you need some pro bono help with that one, PM.
  35. B

    Serious VE issues

My goodness. More Holden ingenuity! I'll file this one with the "plastic caps for wheel nuts", and the "chromed, lubed-up tyre lever". Do they actually employ engineers over there, or are they letting the secretaries handle that kind of stuff? :rofl2:

Battery overcharging, dash died while driving

possibly intermittent o/c battery, but probably regulator. zThese are generally built into the ALTernator in order to save gm some parts bins, and cost you the consumer $.
  38. B

    Replacing the VE "head unit"

MegaFAIL... It's ok if you don't get the concept (or are happy with the fact) that Holden's audio systems are anywhere up to 10 years behind current technology (including VE series II).
