    Kids To Tired to Learn

Those attitudes have changed dramatically in the past 5 years or so. It's almost gone the other way to the point where we are pushing kids in the direction of trades and TAFE training. Back onto the topic though, as a teacher, starting at 11am and finishing later would do nothing. Honestly the...

    Forums users lost in time..?

Did anyone notice I haven't been around for a while? Funny how priorities in life change.? Anyone remember that guy 'Shonky12'. He was the one who would ask the dumbest of questions and argue how much better his mums EB Falcon was than a VP Commie...

Brake light (stop lamp) fuse keeps blowing

I removed the light globes (no light globes connected) and tried another fuse. When I pressed the brakes that one blew too. Does that mean anything?

Brake light (stop lamp) fuse keeps blowing

I noticed the stop lamp warning light came up on the dash. The 15A fuse under the dash had blown. I put another fuse in and as soon as I touched the brake pedal the fuse blew again. What the hell? I haven't changed any globes recently or done anything out of the ordinary. Why would the fuse...

[NSW] Smash repairer in Illawarra area?

Some silly person backed into my car this arvo causing damage to the rear quarter panel and bumper. It should be a relatively simple repair but I'm curious if anyone can recommend an honest and no B.S repairer in the Illawarra area. On the plus side the person owned up and I won't have to...

    Power steering solenoid removal

Anyone know if I need to drop the rack in order to get the variable speed solenoid out? Debris has blocked it up. It first happened a few years ago after a mechanic replaced the pump and didn't do a flush. He told me he had to pull out the rack and was a pain of a job. It's been fine up until...

Crash in Canberra 4 killed today

I saw the news tonight and the dead mans family left no doubt as to who they thought was at fault. The brother of the victim said he didn't blame the driver of the stolen car or his family because "It's what young people do... they get scared and they try run from the police". Well I'm sorry but...

vbulletin 4 forum upgrade TECHNICAL problems - post here

In the search function, can you set the "Sort results by" default to last post date instead of by title. Otherwise we'll have more and more old threads being dug up and when I want to find posts by a user I don't want something that was posted 5 years ago to be at the top of the list.

vbulletin 4 forum upgrade TECHNICAL problems - post here

I'm with Savage1987 on this one. I like to be able to come on here after a few days and see updates to threads I've responded to, but I can only search threads started by a user, not responded too. By the way this new version is rediculously slow! It takes 10 seconds to display what I type...

I've never used the non acid wheel cleaner so I can't really comment. The Hot rims stuff is perfectly safe as long as you follow the instructions. As far as I know there is no touch up paint available for alloy wheels. For sealants I suggest you visit the site sponsor 'Car Care Products'...

    Ethanol E10

It's recommended by manufacturers not to run e10 in pre 1990 cars. I don't know about 1990 - 2000 cars but with modern cars like VZ's, VE's, Camary's, Current Falcon's E10 is perfectly fine. The in-laws have a VZ wagon and it only gets e10 and runs great. We have a 91 Laser which I won't run E10...

What sort of finish do the wheels have? Billet wheels come up great with a product like Autosol. But Autosol is an abrasive product and wheels which have a clear coat finish (example my VT Calais international wheels) can end up with fine scratches. If your wheels have a clear coat then you...

Stuffed up when replacing oil pressure switch... HELP

admir87, you're exactly right. I got the new adapter late this arvo and tonight went out to the garage to check to see I didn't stuff the thread on the new switch. It only screws in about 5 or 6 threads before stopping. I tried the old switch thinking I stuffed the new one and it was the same...

Stuffed up when replacing oil pressure switch... HELP

I've ordered a replacement oil filter adapter for $38 including the gasket but some of the bolts look impossible to access. Do I need to remove the power steering pump and there is a curved bracket that looks to be in the way. Any advice? I'm hoping I don't have to remove the timing cover...

Stuffed up when replacing oil pressure switch... HELP

Cheap6, There's four bolts. Three external and one inside the the oil filter seal. The problem is getting access to two of the bolts, plus sourcing a new or 2nd hand one and a new gasket. On top of that I have to get a lift to work until it's fixed.

Stuffed up when replacing oil pressure switch... HELP

Wasn't 'leaking' but had a build up of old oil around the connector. Not really any different to any other commodore. Looking at what I'll have to do to replace it it appears I'll have to remove the P.S pump to get acsess to the bolts.

Stuffed up when replacing oil pressure switch... HELP

    scratches

What sort of 'scratches' are you talking about? Do you mean swirls or holograms in the paint or deep scratches. If you run your fingernail across the scratch and can feel your nail getting caught then it will be too deep to buff out.

what grade oil should i use?

Hey stick, how much are they charging you for an oil change? Helix is only $38 for 5L and a decent filter $8. If you've got a 19mm socket or spanner you can do the VS yourself. The VZ is even easier with the oil filter at the top of the motor.

what grade oil should i use?

As I've said in previous threads asking the exact same question, oil has come a long way since the ecotec was released in 1995. Back then 20w50 with an API rating of SG was the best thing avaiable. But if you have a look at the recommended oil in a VX or VY ecotec handbook it will say 10w30 (API...

    aussie flag..

Went for an Australia Day breakfast down at local beach. Must have been at least a few thousand people at least. One of the cop cars had a flag out of all four windows and one haning off the rear window wiper. Nearly ever car had them too.

Been playing guitar for 18 years. Also piano, bass, vocals, some drums and now trying to teach myself sax. Will standard VS V6 extractors fit a '99 series 3 S/C V6 Statesman?

It depends on what brand you go with. Best thing to do would be email or call various manufacturers and ask them. Better yet some manufacturers have catalogues with part numbers available on their websites.

    Guitar

Didn't have any favourites. They're all different. If you like Gibsons but not the price tag look for an Orville or Orville by Gibson. Both made by Gibson in Japan for the Japanese market but the 'OBG' was made with the same wood, same American hardware, American made pickups and exact specs as...

    Guitar

I did a recording session at a local studio today. The guy doing the recording had quite a collection hiding in the cupboards. Guitar

Some of the new Squire stuff coming out is pretty nasty. I'm talking about hardware wise. One of my students has a new Squire strat and the machine heads actually have slack in them. You have to make a 1/8th of a turn before it actually does anything to the tuning post. Tuning stability is...

    Detailing Tips & Tricks....

The ecotec motors are pretty good dealing with water. To get rid of grease and oil I use some degreaser in a spray bottle and agitate with a cheap paint brush. To just get rid of dust etc Just rinse with a spray nozzle on the garden hose, a bucket of car wash and then rinse of. If you're...

'no-doof', Good advice. The four finger 'G' chord sounds so much better and it's not that difficult. Private teaching I get students as young as 6 up to adults. With the young kids I start with basic note reading and where to note on the fretboard so they can play simple melodies. Before...
