Stock cam in a worked 304?

I had the 286 tuned by delcowizzard, yet to get a tune for the 603, I'll just live dyno tune it I think, not after big performance, it's in a manual ute so dropping a skid wont be a problem.... after all it's a work ute, just want reliability and a nice drive

Stock cam in a worked 304?

I didnt like the 286 anyway, the car would chug and jerk to the lump of the cam while at cruising speed. I know it's an old holden gring but it's been custom ground to suit vn heads. This cam is the smallest cam I can go without risking pinging.

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

Not at all mate, you can hold the flex plate with one spanner on a nut while you ratchet the rest. Someone once told me "with a big enough bar you could lever the world" hence the breaker bar with a pipe over the handle method. Put the 3/4 (from memory) socket on the balancer bolt, attach the...

    VT commodore overheating

Hows your radiator cap? Have you bled the air out? Assuming you have a v6 you might have an air lock. Since your thermostat is out take the radiator cap off and run the motor from cold to see if water runs fast... if not you might need a new water pump. I once had a water pump that lost all its...

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

Many ways mate. You can put a spanner on one bolt to hold the flex plate while you undo the rest then jam a screwdriver into a hole on the outer diameter where the torque converter bolts on to the flex plate to get the last one or you could use a breaker bar with a pipe extension on the harmonic...

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

You can cut the sill scuff from a wagon to suit, even from a sedan, just be careful removing because the plastic clips are brittle these days. Best to remove the rubber insert entirely first.

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

There should be a half inch ID rubber line that doesn't go anywhere, it could be from the filler neck (little elbo) or the main junction where your pump screws into the tank, but the hose itself doesn't connect to anything except sit loose in the fuel tank well. It's a breather or overflow but...

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

Dont forget to re-route your breather outside of the fuel tank well. I have a hole cut in the rear drivers side corner of the fuel tank well with a rubber grommet and ran the breather down and along the brake lines to just past the diff. This eliminates all fumes from entering the cab.

What did you do to your VR/VS today?

Degreed in my come racing 266 cam yesterday and finished sealing my sump gasket today, very happy with the seal... did it properly. Engine finally off the stand. Bolted on the flywheel to find the pressure plate bolts supplied were M9 not 3/8. More snags.

V8 indeed my friend. Cant wait to unveil the build it's been 12 months off the road piecing it together. Just waiting on the rear quarter trims (ute) to get back from my painter (some custom work, cant wait to show you) and install the camshaft...motor out atm doing gaskets, rear main, rings...

It seems I have wiped an exhaust lobe, cylinder 2 on my crow 286 cam. I have worked 59cc heads with 130lb springs, big pacies into 3 inch x pipe (2.5 inch dual over the diff) , 25lb bluetop injectors, port matched bananas, soon to have installed flat top pistons (about 10:1 compression)...

    Custom Delco tunes

    rear muffler mount

The mounting brackets are quite pliable too so if you struggle just bend the bracket enough to slip the rubber on then use pliers to move the tongue of the mounting bracket back into position. It's a good idea to give it an extra tweak to stop the rubber from falling off if your tail pipe...

What did you do to your VR/VS today?

Ordered some long shank, tapered wheel nuts to bolt VE/VF wheels onto my VS. The 10 inch rear rims rub on the inner guard so I had to buy some 12mm spacers leaving next to no thread to work with.

    Vs v8 getrag gearbox

yes mate, these are done by removing the centre console and accessing from the top of the box. Remember to clean the silaflex from the shifter mount carefully so nothing goes into the gearbox and run a fresh bead of sikaflex when installing your new short shifter.

Vs ute petrol smell in cabin

I re-ran the breather line by drilling a hole in the bottom left hand corner of the space under the fuel tank removable panel, and ran a half inch hose zip tied to the drivers side rear brake line. I made the hose go past the axle in the event there was any overflow.

    Rods '70 HG Brougham

The reason the brougham failed was based on the price of production compared to its eventual sale price.
