    Kony 2012

I watched it, but I'm skeptical. I'm for arresting or even assassinating the guy. Lets be honest here, assassination would have been cheaper than going to all the effort of mass campaigning and so on, I know the reason would be to use him as an example to other warlords - but as Leo put it in...

    Keeping 'weapons' in your car

That is an assumption I wouldn't want to make. As they say, assumption is the mother of all f*#$ ups. All it takes is one fella who isn't intimidated by your brandished weapon, he pulls out a bigger one or has the ability to disarm you. Then you're well and truly up the duff.

    The POV of a Troll...

The internet like life, has people that are doing idiotic things for the attention and reaction of others or their peers. Continue to ignore their comments or their deeds, and they go elsewhere. Quite simple really.

    Keeping 'weapons' in your car

But would a weapon even have helped you against the group of thugs that did that to you? If anything, you will need to be prepared to have that weapon taken off you and used against you. You may have come off even worse by fighting back or displaying a weapon to aggravate whatever mental reason...

    An Extraordinary Man

I'm fairly certain that the last thing on any soldiers mind is "If I wonder if I do this, I will get X medal". Training and instinctual reaction, it just so happens that our SAS are one of the best trained forces in the world and this fella did what he was trained to do, and would do for his...

    Keeping 'weapons' in your car

My car is insured, so if someone wants to threaten me to get my car or contents of my car. Go ahead, it's not worth my blood or worse. I don't stop for people on the road. That's just the age we live in these days, it may suck but it's how it is. NRMA roadside assistance and such are there...

    Questions About P2 License Suspension

A legal fight would cost you more than 8 months average wages before you even saw a result. Generally most government and RTA agencies cover their arses well with disclaimers and small print writing for all possible cases, not worth the hassle I reckon. Cop it on the chin, wait your 8 months...

Hoon legislation: Unnecessary noise or smoke.

Judging by your new avatar, I think you just highlighted why the cops give you attention if that is your attitude to driving with or without mods.

    gum tree scammer

The scam usually runs like this: Step 1: Email is sent to deceive you into believing he is a buyer. Step 2: You fall for it, say ok. Step 3: Buyer pretends to send funds or does send funds via PayPal Step 4: You have funds or funds pending - his 'representative' will come over to collect the...

Hoon legislation: Unnecessary noise or smoke.

Your definition of "not much" done to your vehicle is drastically different to mine, and quite obviously the police. If you alter your car in any way shape or form other than stock standard you already have one foot in the grave with the police, so go back to stock or get used to the treatment.

    Nearly 2015! Where's my Hoverboard?

I'd settle for self-lacing nikes. They did a release of the Nike edition from BTTF on eBay for fundraising a few months ago. Pairs were going into the thousands, but none with auto lacing! Grrr. From memory the issue with hover board design was the more weight on the hover the more power...

    Stealth Cameras for Australian Police

In theory yes, but they will still raise road taxes and such on us. Who's going to stop them?

    How to reduce police attention?

Drive a stock standard car. Have music at a suitable audible level for passengers, not the suburb you are passing through. You'd be surprised at how well this turns your everyday full sick ride into a common car on the road that receives no more attention than the rest of them. Rims, loud...

    Stealth Cameras for Australian Police

Theoretically they will need a clear area in-front of that 600 meters. I don't see this as anything different to the cops sitting between the highway shrubs, their radar is basically popping you at less than 3 lanes away giving a motorist less than 1 second to react. Getting tired of this...

Muslims want subsidies to visit their homeland

The government can't even facilitate the purchase of home for a native born Australian, let alone immigrants. But as those cluey amongst us have said. The minority doesn't speak for the majority and we shouldn't let the media rile us up over it. Just look at Houston, they ripped into her for a...

Help hit a pot hole split my mag

Oh by the way, did they actually do a proper job on repairing the pot hole? Councils normally just fill it with gravel and the pothole comes back in a day. Then again I've seen 'proper repair' jobs fail and the hole return in a week or month.

what to do when you hear the words "lay off"

Certainly is a positive outlook on it. But having been on the receiving end twice there is very little to be positive about. I think the most important thing to stay neutral on it is don't take it personally. Even when a case may be blatantly personal - eg. I was first in last out, did my work...

Help hit a pot hole split my mag

The potholes I have to avoid on the way to work would crack any rim. Every day they get worse, main roads and main side roads too, at least 20-30 I got to miss to and from work. Councils need to get off their bloody asses and start fixing it.

    Banks & Insurance Companies

Because people don't like to be walked over. If they believe something they will fight for it and stand up. There are things in life that aren't right. 'Safety Cameras', increases in premiums, so on and so forth. All these things we have very little control over and if anything they have...

what to do when you hear the words "lay off"

I've been made redundant twice. Didn't see it coming either time. Don't assume that because you are on the lowest rung of the ladder that you will be the first to go. It is quite possible that you will be the last to go, because you are on a probation they may consider making more senior, and...

    Banks & Insurance Companies

As do all of our mobile lenders :) The banks actually took the idea from credit unions standard practice ever since they started getting the bad customer service rap a few years ago and wanted to pick up their game. The dying breed is a misconception, however the truth is you will see less...

    Banks & Insurance Companies

Not always best fees etc, but you should always judge products based on what is best for your needs. My credit union is very decent. Their interest rates are usually always higher because they have a larger portion of the loan market (liquidity 101). But you cant beat them on service by any bank.

    First year apprentice

Out of curiosity, I hear a lot of talk about 3rd year apprentices being sacked to avoid the 4th year and continued work. Is this quite common amongst industries?

    Banks & Insurance Companies

My concern with insurance, nobody is forcing anyone to buy it as you say. I shudder to think how many cars are on the roads without insurance. Should someone smack into you without insurance, I’m sure you will find the experience very enjoyable satisfied in the knowledge that the person involved...

    Social welfare

This is my experience. I was made redundant from my job in IT a few years ago. In total I was unemployed for 10 months. I was always saving for the what if factor, and I chose not to go on centrelink benefits and instead use my savings - but I came close towards the end as my savings were...

Women better at parking than men - study

From memory there was a study made a while ago regarding what the strengths are in men and women. Men scored highest in geometric shapes, distances, logical thinking, mechanical and such. Women scored highest in creativity, art, and such. I just remember the geometric shapes and distances one...

Regular Unleaded fuel to be removed from bowsers by July 2012

Most servos in Sydney still have a Regular Unleaded bowser. But usually only one mixed inbetween Premium and E10 - check the pumps next time you're there. You've probably just overlooked it.

Peoples thought on routine updating cars

If it were me personally, I would begin focusing on a house. The differences between the VE's are minor, there is nothing wrong with your current car other than your concerns for the cost of servicing. Unfortunately servicing is a part of owning a car which you cannot avoid. Presumably you...

N.S.W Police force to ban Tattoo's

The sky blue does make them look a bit elementary school. All black does look striking, but I imagine heat would play a part in that. I know most school/uniform organisations will go with a pastel or white colour to refract light and heat. I respect them because of their uniform. Tattoos have...

    are police going too far?

These idiots WILL drag race! They drag race other idiots, and continue to do so with each idiot that challenges them before they are even “baited”. So they are already causing dangerous situations, placing the public at risk! The difference is when they are “baited” by a cop – they are CAUGHT...

N.S.W Police force to ban Tattoo's

They are merely attempting to improve the professional image of the police force. Tattoos in office environments, particularly banks aren't accepted. I don't hear anyone crying out mistreatment for them. I know multiple coworkers who hide their tattoos well because they knew they would be...

    Are you kidding me?!

I don't quite understand what they're expecting. Our last PM apologised for something that we had no direct involvement or control in. That was something they had wanted for a long time. I wonder what they want now? Will they not be happy until they have a mansion, tax free income and a...

    are police going too far?

No I wouldn't - I guess that's the difference between someone who won't be baited and will be. That's exactly what the police are targeting, the people who allow ego onto the roads which cause accidents as much as speeding. If you're not able to be the bigger man in situations where ########s...

    The JC Darwin Awards thread

Regarding that crane one, there seems to be a craze going around lately of heroes going onto the very end of the swing arm and then hanging down from the support struts and doing pull ups - no harness or parachute etc. All it will take is a sweaty palm, frosty metal or a misplaced foot and you...

    are police going too far?

Dave you've just proved my point mate, you are saying that those who are baited are already guilty. In what world are the police supposed to lead by example? The police are here to prevent and catch you for doing the wrong thing, although lately they just simply catch as it's the profitable...

    People leaving Aus in droves.....

Good riddance? Wrong. These are the kind of immigrants we want, they're not a burden on the system, they're qualified and willing to work hard for what they want. But in Australia our system pays the immigrants who will be a consistent burden.

    money for accident??

I must be a c**t, if someone hit me and owned up to it I'm pretty much going to grab all details and submit a claim to my insurance company. They act as legal representation on accident matters and have the resources to find out whether someone does or does not have insurance. Don't care what...
