    4WDing

the engine swap is easy, easiest way to do it is lift the cab off chassis, then have you motor and gearbox ready to go, have the engine mounts grinded off the chassis and mounted to the motor. Then its just a matter of lifting the motor and gearbox into the frame, bolting the transmission to...

    Crewman Drive Shaft Blowout

when you raise or lower a vehicle with leaf springs, the distance in height between the axle and body changes, that change in distance results in the axle rolling forward (the pinion goes down) or the axle rolls back (the pinion goes up) as you can see in your original picture the pinion is...

    Crewman Drive Shaft Blowout

if you go to a suspension place and ask them for castor correction wedges for the rear end and they will know what your talking about. you cant just undo the shackles and turn the diff up unfortunetly as they use a pining bolt to keep them located, the wedge is as its seem, just a bit of steel...

    Crewman Drive Shaft Blowout

looks like you've lowered it judging by the way the angle the diff is sitting on? leaf spring suspension will torque twist when you accelerate, but will return to normal while parked or cruising.... it wont move around 'as it needs to' unless there is something wrong. you need to get caster...

VE series 2 electrical information in engine bay

there is an inline fuse in that cable I believe..... hence the change in the in the fuse box cover lid in the early stages..... initially it had a rubber boot over it, and if someone tried to jump start on that point it would blow the fuse..... now the plastic lid covers it..... I was lead to...

Engine revving up and down in Park when Airconditioning is on. VZ 190KW.

that would be a good solution if alloytecs use one.... as said, will be an electrical issue, does the revs cycle with the the a/c compressor cutting in and out?

this document here will explain how they work a lil better Compressor Holden VE Commodore 6.0L V8 Denso 6SEU16C OE# 447260-1130: Speedy Air Spares and here is a picture of the 6.0L pump itself. Compressor Holden VE Commodore 6.0L V8 Denso 6SEU16C OE# 447260-1130: Speedy Air Spares

Fuel Economy while aircon is used?

only if the torque converter is locked... otherwise if it isn't, they motor will stall, hence why when you cruise around town doing 50km an hour holding say 1500rpm cruising, then take you foot off the pedal and the revs drop to around 800rpm... torque converter isn't locked, and your using fuel...

    VZ v6 engine mounts replacement

depends on what side of the motor its on... drivers side isn't to bad.... passenger side is a bit harder.. the a/c compressor is in the way a bit

V6 Gearbox compatibility (requesting holden mechanics expertise or anyone else)

same applies if you go manual, swap all associtated parts over to make it a manual and use a sv6 manual vin number.... will probably be easier to do than a 4sp I had to go through all this when I converted my vz to manual, when you swap it all over it most likely wont start by ignition key, I...

At my wits end... What's wrong now

conventional a/c pumps yes, but ve uses a variable displacement pump. it does away with the clutch that has either on or off.. it uses a solenoid that controls the amount of work the compressor does so to speak, allows for better use and control of the climate control system

Trouble Starting on Hot Days (30c +)

also could be the petrol injectors leaking down flooding the motor, but if left for a period of time i.e overnight they petrol can dry out.... hence not a starting issue

At my wits end... What's wrong now

had the bearing gone bad in the tensioner pulley or you just replaced it? the ve's a/c compressor run constantly..... even when turned on or off, is possible to have a compressor that has failed or starting to seize, hence why you were missing the belt to start with, aswell as revving..... has...

V6 Gearbox compatibility (requesting holden mechanics expertise or anyone else)

im not enitrly sure whether the ve's ecm incorporated the transmission control (vz's ran an individual tcm) it would be possible, you will need the wiring loom for the transmission, back to where ever it connects to the main loom, aswell as the 4l60 box, basically convert everything that...

    Rust in A Pillar

besides cleaning it up, treating the bare metal and applying a thin skin of filler over it an re-paint, they wouldn't do anything else about it, ive got a mate that bought a newish rodeo that has chassis rust (that you can peel) off the chassis, he tried to get it written off but they wouldn't...

Fuel Economy while aircon is used?

thats just thinking about it too much......... only design floor in the braking thing for you would be if your car is an auto...... unless the torque converter is locked an auto equiped motor will use fuel under de-accell anyway

    5W30 V 10W30 engine oil

it sounds the same as 10w40 maganatec in shops, but is actually different chemical make up to the magnatec 10w-30 dealerships etc buy in 205 drums. not sure of the exact differences, but it was explained to me by the castrol rep one day when we were updating the oil range in the workshop i...

Fuel Economy while aircon is used?

will notice it a fair bit at idle using the instant fuel use, while driving wont nealy make any difference in fact, if your clever, everytime you coast down hill, or engine braking, with your foot off the trottle, turn the air con on and enjoy free cold air...... results will best come from...

    5W30 V 10W30 engine oil

if you live in a cold environment i.e <5 degrees which tamworth would, then yes 5w-30 would be more suitable expecially if you do short trips, if your car uses a noticeable amount of oil, then possibly stick with 10w-30 fyi for another good alternative oil, Valvoline durablend 5w or 10w/30...

    Smashed rear windscreen VZ wagon

the rubber trim on the vz i had wasnt part of the glue, i used to take it off to clean the dirt out from behind it.... glue wasnt anywhere near the trim, this is for the rear window.... not the windscreen

    Smashed rear windscreen VZ wagon

is possible as a diy job, the back window is only glued in, you can pull that rubber cover off from around the window, depending on how much of the window is smashed, knock out the rest of it right down to the glue bead, carefully cut the glue bead off with a sharp stanley knife, then clean the...

    Ve sidi oil?

    Tyre scalloping

roundabouts, low tyre pressure, cornering to fast and bad alignment will cause tyre wear on edges, if its featuring on the insude edge, id suggest a wheel alignment first, if its toeing-out that will suggest the featering, if its evenly worn on the insude you will notice more in the camber...

    Remote key troubles??

i wouldnt trust a mr minit key, sure get him to cut a blade, but unless they buy a scan tool capable of programing specific to the car, they only use a cloner, if you have a problem with a key, and get it cloned to the new one, you have a second brand new dud key. years ago i was picking parts...

VZ Alloytec Wagon conversion to manual
