    VZ need help

If it weren't for the clutch comment I would have said clutch lol. Does it sound like it's slipping? What I mean by that is it revving hard when you plant your foot, or revs stay low and no power? Also how does it sound at idle and under load? The resonator can be completely removed...

    5 speed conversion

From what I can gather the VT is a manual yeah? Pretty sure the diff ratios on the VY will be different to the VT dunno how you will go using it. I wanted to do the same thing a while ago...Have an SS wreck I use for parts for my VZ and wanted the 6 speed manual in my VZ auto but was advised...

    VT Calais 5L wont start

Yikes that sucks mate could be a bad earth somewhere, but yeah starter sounds likely. Good luck hopefully someone can shed some light on it for you, without getting stung for labour in the shop.

So the VF is this what the front and back look like ?

Wish I had of grabbed the Wheels mag from work, shows a full front/side pic of the upcoming GTS. Looks awesome lol

WTF is going on with kids/teens today?

Absolutely. Old man only had to flog manners into me a coupla times before I learned to respect adults and rely on my morals for the choices I make. What's wrong with kids now? Nothing a good smack on the arse wouldn't have fixed years ago.

    VT Calais 5L wont start

Yeah that's odd, do u have another battery to try and eliminate it as a problem?
  7. Coaly69

    5 speed conversion

Should fit mate but don't take my word for it. Are they both Auto/Manual? I would be more worried about diff ratios but I'm sure one of the lads will chime in and let you know

Coolant leak behind power steering pump? Help!

Yeah as Immortality said better to clean it when ya get home with degreaser then check in the morning before u drive it. Going to be hard to pinpoint with old cooland all over the shop and a hefty amount of dirt around. Try pushing the inlet/outlet hoses to block and water pump. Push and hold...

Holden's New VF Commodore Breaks Cover

Yeah I saw a blurb about the VF GTS in Wheels a few weeks ago, will take the crown from Ford as Aus's fastest accelerating production vehicle. Power is only up by a few percent on the last GTS but torque looks like that of a lambo

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

As I stated above fuel and ignition system were all tested, and was put on diagnostics as well. As I also stated, it was a dirty throttle body lol. Also I have owned commodores for 15 years now and know how to drive them mate. An auto V8 is a no brainer, put foot down and it goes lmao. When I...

    VZ need help

Only takes 15 mins to pull it off and clean it mate. Here's a pic of the black intake pipe just undo the clamp, pull it off and take a look. Any black buildup remove the 4 bolts and take it off, use a clean rag and petrol to get it off. Open the butterfly and give it a good clean. Thx to...

I'll bet he does, nice ride mate!

    VZ need help

Been a while but better late than never lol. My rough idle and power loss was all down to a dirty throttle body, 15 mins a rag and some fuel and she was fixed. Still have the annoying starting issue when hot, as well as low fuel warning when I start hot. Diagnostics turned up nothing, as well...

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Been a while lads but Ford dealers really are tools (Sorry to any Ford lovers haha). After all the crap I went through bench testing injectors, fuel pump and blah blah blah was just a dirty throttle body. Ford led me on until my warranty ran out, then tried to make me pay for a fuel pump. Mine...

vy 5,7 v8 water pump replacement

Water pump must be in a slightly different spot to my '05 VZ SV8. Just pulled mine off and all I had to do was radiator shroud, drive belt, heater hoses and outlet pipe. Keep up the good work guys, this forum has helped me to no end with my commodores over the years! -Coaly

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Cheers Macca, that's the advice I was looking for mate. Bloody MAF I have no idea what that even looks like haha. 1 3/4" headers into 2 1/2" sounds like the go, what sort of $ am I looking at for a full high-flow cat back system? Can pick up the 1 3/4" to 2 /12" here for $1300 fitted, right...

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Got it back from the dealer and she appears to have a slow leak in one of the injectors, explains why it's hard to start when hot (They love juice when cold apparently). Gotta drop it in next week to bench-test the injectors. Diagnostics picked up no fault codes so that's a plus. Ran a bottle...

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Nah mate, just annoyed that the power available isn't showing in lower gears. I actually do about 1300k's per week highway driving and the performance seems ok for a stock v8 when overtaking. I'm not looking to smoke $300 worth of treads at the lights, but knowing that the power isn't there...

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Sweet, yeah not missing or giving errors. Just the poxy "Low Fuel" when you crank it over after it's been sitting for an hour. Starts sweet cold n hot, just takes ages in-between and give the fuel msg. Ah well looks like saving some coin to go mafless and tune. Just curious I've heard Pacemaker...

No bottom end torque, especially 1st/2nd gear VZ SV8

Getting very disappointing bottom end until about 80kph in 3rd. Off the mark I feel like I can actually blow this V8 with my Hyundai Getz :help: Downshifts at 80-100kph feel ok, has a decent throwback effect. A tune would be great but I don't have the $ right now. Sucks being an auto but any...

    thermo fan not shutting down

I wouldn't be too worried unless it stops and engine gets hot, or keeps going when engine is off. Think of it as a pro-active fan, but yeah makes you uneasy when there is something not working as it should. Does it kick on with the car off/ignition on? Have you tried it on a cold morning?

vz commodore a horn under the bonnet Whats it for????

Yeah used the fascia in my vy, was ok but not ideal. After exhaust/tune etc looking at double din unit with wheel controls, dvd and sat nav. dunno how it will look though as the corners are slightly rounded so could be a gap. Good luck mate and let us know how ya go.

    vz alarm going off

Yeah thank god for cruise control, had more speeding tickets in my missus hyundai getz than my vy. 10k over the limit you can get away with, Capricorn highway is 110 so 120 is a good cruise.
  24. Coaly69

    VZ need help

Should mention I did walk it first haha. Aircon on fresh keeps positive pressure and stops door seals leaking, driving backwards stops the bow wave entering airbox and reduces risk of smashing fan blades. During the recent floods me n the boys have travelled in tandem with a mate driving a...

vz commodore a horn under the bonnet Whats it for????

Audio distortion limiter I'm unsure with aftermarked head units, I have my amp hooked up via the rear left door speaker with a line level converter (RCA to High-level input) to keep the steering wheel buttons and factory double din unit. Plus I hate the fascia unit for single din, never looks...

Haha that brightened my day mate. Always glad to hear "On yer way..." Instead of the pink book coming out.
  27. Coaly69

vz commodore a horn under the bonnet Whats it for????

That sucks mate, have you tried taking the + terminal off battery for 10 secs then replacing? Sucks not being able to muck with stuff like volume distortion limiter on the cd player and yeah, indicators on lock etc. If no-one else has an idea then it's off to Holden to burn some $ for labour...

VZ SV6 Spark Plugs? better performance?

Humbug. Things were so much easier in the VH days. 2 hours to replace the old blue motor, now it's an hour to replace spark plugs lol. Also decent 2nd hand blue/black motors were $200, a tail shaft was $50 (Then another $50 cos the uni blew).

vz commodore a horn under the bonnet Whats it for????

Hmm strange, so you have tried pressing the up/down arrows when prompted after turning the key on? Should come up after "System Check" message. No need to start the car just turn ignition on until you see battery light then wait for the prompt. Thought you could only set the lock option to Horn...

    VZ need help

Turn aircon onto fresh intake, then drive through backwards lol. Have had water close to the top of the rims using that method, only problem was sticky fan from water in the plug behind radiator. Cue flat battery. Silly but worked. Back onto the subject though, both my vy and vz's have always...

    aircon prob

Same prob with my '03 vy II and vz sv8, only when I hit the skids hard though. Cbf jamming myself under there again, should have checked it whilst running an amp power wire through the firewall yesterday lol.

    vz alarm going off

As in the alarm goes off and does not stop until key is in the ignition or does it do a few fast beeps? A few fast beeps happens when you lock/unlock it with a door ajar.

    SV8 Hard to start/Performance issues

Did I mention I picked it up at a Ford dealership? The reason I have it booked in today is because the rear shock rubbers are buggered, now a fuel problem and needs tuning... Didn't miss the irony but I've had some pretty shonky work done by Holden too. As pathetic as the warranty is I'm...

VZ SV6 Spark Plugs? better performance?

"Like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives" Hehe sorry boys couldn't help that 1. Just to sidetrack a little, are the plugs on sv8's a hassle to replace as well? Never had a miss on the vy so wanna know what I'm in for (130 thou on the sv8 atm).
  35. Coaly69

vz commodore a horn under the bonnet Whats it for????

Is it the door lock one? Set trip comp to indicator + horn when locking and have a peek cos that sounds different to the horn and the alarm in my vz and vy.

    SV8 Hard to start/Performance issues

Filth, cheers mate. Would love that torque down low through gears, and definately not going to get the tune I want at the dealer. I do a more thorough service anyway so not worried bout the 3 month used warranty, after the fuel issue is resolved that is :yeah:

    SV8 Hard to start/Performance issues

Yeah she's booked into the dealer tomorrow morn so should come under the pox used car warranty. Is there a way to reset the "Abuse mode" or does it reset when you turn the car off? Hopefully the shocking acceleration lag is caused by the fuel pump because a v6 alloytec has no trouble keeping...

    thermo fan not shutting down

Had same prob in my vz sv8, disconnected the thermo plug behind the radiator for the day an problem solved. Seemed to be plug wasn't fully pushed in allowing moisture to bridge the gap with igniton off. 2 weeks later hasn't happened again. -Coaly.

    SV8 Hard to start/Performance issues

G'day all :beer chug: I've recently bought an SV8 and have an annoying problem. When I start her up (Hot or cold) she winds over for about 8 seconds then finally starts. After this I usually get the annoying "Low fuel" beep/message along with a rough idle and a couple of times she has...
