    VT Cruise Control

I'm also happy to reverse engineer the circuit board and dump the programming from the processor if anyone else is interested.

    VT Cruise Control

Nah Tml... haven't read a thing in the thread timmeh, TIMMEH DAHHH, why the #### else would my opening line be asking if the stalk replacement didn't work? My sincerest apologies if you didn't find the internal technical workings of a cruise module the faintest bit interesting

    VT Cruise Control

So guessing the stalk replacement didn't fix the issue? Swap the cruise module under the hood is next. Anything can be rebuilt if you can source the parts and pay for labor. Just cracked a 97 cruise module apart looking for a fault... damn thing just didn't like these 35°C+ days and refused...

    Boot Button

You could set it to a proximity sensor so it locks down when the tag isn't nearby.... technology is such a great thing, but setting it up means buying a kit if you can't DIY it which ain't gonna be cheap....

    Scrap it, whats it worth?

Scrap has gone up a few cents per tonne though, it's worth more now than it was 2 years ago.

    Motor swap

Because they have a Kingwood that's been sitting in the back yard/paddock for the last 30 years with an engine that runs... after they thrashed and fucked the 3.8
  8. Jxfwsf

    Motor swap

Yep, same reason why holden used the gen III. Was cheaper when the rules changed during the VT production to put another engine in that already passed the standards than to try to make the 5.0L conform. Same reason why you couldn't put a 5.0L in a sII VT, different emission rules. But if you...

    Boot Button

Could go one better, add an RFID reader in the boot garnish and one in the door, either get an implant under the skin in your hand or an RFID ring and when you wave your hand past, it unlocks either the doors or the boot depending on which one. That's even lazier than not wanting to open the...

    White smoke from auto/torque converter

The fluid continually flows through the converter when it's running, it'd be smoking from the breather pipe that is behind the bellhousing in the trans tunnel if it was that hot.... doubt it'd be working correctly and the fluid wouldn't be red if it was getting that hot. Simple test, pull the...

    Vs dizzy and fireing order

Only took me 2 weeks to find the OE dizzy to take the pics..... knew i had one somewhere. Sadly the aftermarket dizzy's I found easy don't have the mark on them, they'll meet a hacksaw blade or file before I fit them for sure. Easy mod to do, when the interrupter ring has completely blocked and...

    Blinker Relay

In the fuse/relay box under the steering wheel. Pull the cover down and there should be a diagram showing which relay/fuse does what.

    Boot Button

Yes it works all the time regardless of ignition/lock state of the car.

    Thermostat housing leaking coolant

Make a gasket out of a weetbix box, nice and thick and will serve the purpose. Add some red high temp RTV sealant if you like and it'll never be a problem again. Not sure about using concrete, a sheet of glass is a better flat surface.

    Boot Button

Just don't have anything valuable in the boot... subs, amp etc etc. Almost as bad as the #### ###### smartlock button on the dash, anyone could jar the door open enough and use something long and push the button. What's wrong with the button in your hand on the key? it works when it's in the...

    Motor swap

Technically it will fit. Just won't be able to register it because the engine is to old. If you want an aussie v8 then you need a 304 and a series 1 VT to put it in.
  18. Jxfwsf

    Vs dizzy and fireing order

Here's a pic of the marks to line up when fitting the dizzy Which basically line up with no.1 post With these marks lined up and the timing mark on the balancer lined up with the TDC mark it will run.

    Leaking oil when hot

Sure it is the front main seal. Not a common leak for the buick v6. Or is it v8? Leaking from the sump gasket?
  20. Jxfwsf

    Leaking oil when hot

It is ok, i used google translate and it didn't work correctly. How was the front pulley where the seal is against it? Groove worn in? Or smooth shine surface?

    Leaking oil when hot

Stupid google translate, that's not what i wrote

    Leaking oil when hot

Olá, é o selo dianteiro ou traseiro? Não Inglês? Nós, australianos, podemos geralmente entender o inglês ruim e dividi-lo Melhor do que google traduzir qualquer maneira

    VT Cruise Control

Modules are the same for VN-VX that I know of (probably VY-VZ also), but randomly dropping out like that sounds more like the indicator stalk. If you have another module to put in and try, it rules out that piece of the puzzle if the fault remains. You don't have to remove the entire drive...

    Help me lock her down

I have it now, no fried meat smell. A hf dc boost converter into some big arse caps setup as a voltage multiplier and sew a couple of conductive strips into the seat covers, should be able to get it down to a 1 shot kill without smoke... just don't forget to disable the anti theft feature...

    Help me lock her down

So what you're saying is it needs a high voltage DC pulse or 6 to make sure the job is done so it only fries the insides and doesn't release the aromatic flavors. But then there wouldn't be those awesome high frequency skin effect sparks.

Pod filter on vt 5.0L, still need oxygen sensor????

Does that sound at idle "SSSHHHHHHHHHHHstutterSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH" sound better? I bet you know the one, you hear it and think there must a commodore somewhere around here with a pod filter.... look around and there it is. I'm all for growling intake noise, but a holden efi just doesn't have it...

I reckon a set of standard tops will sort yours out. The earlier VB-VP VR-VS were simpler to adjust

    VU Front K Frame

Found some.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WHITELINE-W42565S-STRUT-MOUNT-BUSHING-SET-FIT-COMMODORE-VR-VS-VT-VS-VU-VY-VZ-VE-/361577925295?hash=item542fb94aaf Still makes me cringe thinking about doing a wheel alignment on that setup

    VU Front K Frame

I think the idea is when the weight of the car is on the bush it doesn't move due to the ribs and dimples with the off center hole for the strut... it looked like a prick of an idea lol
  30. Jxfwsf

    VU Front K Frame

There was atleast one mob making offset strut top bushes for VR-VZ, I learnt that the hard way calling it bs on here a couple of years ago.... but do you think I can find them now.... must be real popular or were just a **** idea. I cringed at the thought of trying to do a wheel alignment on a...

    VU Front K Frame

I'm leaning towards the bush/bearing assembly being knackered. This is how it sits with super-pro strut tops (not adjustable) and 33cm between hub center and guard lip.
  32. Jxfwsf

    VU Front K Frame

Ignore the plate comment, mental lapse.... What is the measurement between the center of the hub and the guard lip?
  33. Jxfwsf

    VU Front K Frame

When you changed the struts, did you use the same top bush/bearing assembly?
  34. Jxfwsf

    VU Front K Frame

You need to edit the settings on the album or put the pic somewhere it can be seen. This is what i see The cup washer should be central (if it's the one i'm thinking of), unless the guts of the strut top bearing assembly/bush are totally !@$ed. Which isn't uncommon, if it lets go completely...

VT Loses power after 4-5 seconds after start up and small amount of throttle then regains power.

You can clean the pintle manually with the IAC out with a rag or carefully scrape the varnish/carbon buildup off. Obviously if using a rag soaked with carby/throttle body cleaner then also use gloves, you don't want that **** contacting your skin. As above it's not a good idea to flood it while...

    VU Front K Frame

No pic/didn't work, do you have adjustable top strut mounts? The VB-VS k-frames did have an issue with the front caster rod mount that could tear/bend, VT onwards has a completely different setup which to my knowledge is much stronger. Due to it being lowered that much..... you could grind...

    Replaceing purge hose

It's really not a place that a pic can be taken unless an engine is half dismantled, it's the only hose that comes off that area and then runs to the back of the engine joining to a solenoid bolted the the head..
