    Vehicle speed sensor a

Update for anyone that comes across this thread: My P0500 code remained a constant issue however the electrical symptoms started to get worse and included: * MIL Code P0500 - Speed Sensor error * Cruise Control dis-engages - In conjunction with P0500 * Clicking from ECU - Front passenger kick...

    Vehicle speed sensor a

Thanks. Tried a new battery but nit as lucky. Still get P0500 code with either "VSS circuit" or "Speed Sensor A Fault'. Google doesn't provide any other clues so barring changing the harnesses, wheel & gearbox sensors it maybe off to the rorters. Bit reluctant to do this as when it gives a...

Hi Smithky, Did you ever get a diagnostic solution to your P0500 error code and the Cruise Control not activating? Have exactly the same thing over the last week on my VE Calais V. Cheers

Fitting a ve Calais headunit with all heating/cooling controls into a omega

NAV will only work if you have the GPS option fitted which means you will have a big black box in the glove box where the navigation DVD goes and interfaces with head unit and the dash. No black box no NAV just a button that does nothing. Personally I the GM NAV system is not that great and...

    alloytec 190 error code help!

Cant help you but it doesn't sound real healthy if you clear them and they keep coming back. http://www.tech-online.com.au/TechOnline/articles/a5/a59f3cc4-5590-4981-98ca-58646f127efc/3192.pdf They are not the usual ones for the old "timing chain issue" so cross your fingers.

    Service and oil life?

On km's that would be once a month for me so really it varies from case to case and is a balance between cost and what's best in the long run. Mine is always done on 15K km which is about every 3-4 months but if I wasn't doing the km it would be at least every 6 months or 15K km using good...

What deal did you get on a VF?

I am looking at a VF as well and noticed you are local to me so if this is still the case which dealer was best to negotiate with? They will do this in 12 months. My current VE lost the original owner $25K in 22 months. Maybe a top spec low km V8 maybe less but I wouldn't like to be selling a...

Is my VE Calais a write-off?

Different company (GIO) but I had my "agreed Value" policy lowered after my claim to allow for a write-off based upon a value that was more realistic and sometimes referred to as "market value" but it was only reduced a few thousand which was OK with me as policy was nearly 12mths old so vehicle...

Is my VE Calais a write-off?

Should have made this a poll........................ I was with GIO and was advised normally its about 80% before its an economic write-off but as stated above (#15) it all depends on the salvage value of the vehicle. I vote for a write-off due to some panel/door/bonnet damage, need for a...

    ABS Fault/ESP Off Randomly?

+1 Dealer first advised me to replace my battery and this seem to fix it for a while but when it happened again 12mths latter this time they advised it was the rear harness for the wheel sensor (right or left can't remember). Both time it was a DIY fix as I refuse to pay $120/h for labour...

07 VE Calais Error code 2127

A Holden tech may have the exact fault fix but I wouldn't be replacing the pedal yet as it could also be a MAF issue/fault. If it is the MAF a simple low cost fix could be to replace the MAF which is a reasonably easy job for a DYI attempt. You can get a new MAF from Evilbay for $220 + p&h...

How to remove dore trims and dash?

This is the VF forum but as your ride states "VE" start here which explains upgrading speakers which involves removing door trims etc https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/upgrading-ve-stock-speakers-how.159709 If its a VF then the door will be similar As for the stereo/head unit...

    Remove antena from roof

I think it will be like the VE and you have to remove the internal roof lining and all the associated plastic pillar covers to access the retaining mechanism. You maybe able to access it by just dropping the back portion only but not an easy job for such a simple task. Just get the wrapper (or...

Solutions to a clunky ve 4 speed transmission

I thinks since 2006 (VE release) all GM autos spec is Dexron VI or DX VI(6). Is the oil you used a DX VI equivalent? I think full SIN ATF is also OK if this is what you used. See --> Are you using the correct Auto Trans Fluid?

Difference between 5sp and 4sp and 6sp transmission??

If the 5 speed (5L40E) blows the your up for $3K for a rebuild and even a 2nd hand one if you can find one will set you back the best part of $2K + R&R. The 4 speed (4L50E or variants) is basically the same box that's been in commodores since the VN and is much cheaper to buy and rebuild. The...

    Automatic Transmission Service $$$ ?

I agree. Costs me $135 for my VE 5speed auto at my local transmission shop. Had it done at 150K km, again at 200K km and the recently at 250K km without any issues. Just once your cars out of warranty (most will be as 1st service not due until 150k KM) don't get is serviced at a dealer and you...

    Dark Calais Screen

yep common issue with the calais with auto diming/lights. Only happens for me when I come home at night and have the lights set to auto off/on. Ve OEM jack WTF?

yes PITA design and only just capable of doing its claimed intention and I would only use it in an emergency. Not your fault but if I was a betting man I would be loading up on the feedback being "operator error, sorry not our fault" but that my just be my sarcasim coming out.

    Changing Fuels.. Running rough

    Pre-VE Purchase advice

if you want to ensure your VE purchase is not going to have the known timing chain issue then get one with an engine number after H071380576 as thats when GM identified the problem and changed the OEM fitted chain. I think you will find this was in late 2007.

    Best Battery?

Yes its the 460CCA version (55H) but is standard in a V6 VE Calais V with all the electrics etc. The 600CCA version (66H) is also available for extra $$$ but he only has an Omega V6 with a stereo so why over engineer the solution. (unless the stereo is worth more than the car)
  36. womble66

    Best Battery?

Just get a Exide Endurance Plus 55H which is the same battery (identical except for the stickers) as the Holden OEM ones and can be found from under $160 from some direct Exide Dealers. Holden want +$260 for the same battery. Both come from Adelaide (Holden & Exide). 2yr warranty from Exide Oz wide.
  37. womble66

What do you think about this price?

price seems to be in the upper range for same but not from car yards but that doesn't matter really as its all about the change over cost (the extra $$$ needed) for you which can be the killer. the car maybe a great price but if they give your $5K less than other place for your trade-in then its...

roof racks - do the VE sedan ones fit the sportwagon?

Why???? I would say he hasn't got any but owns a VE sportswagon and wants to buy some 2nd hand ones and can get a set of genuine GMH ones off a VE sedan and as they both use the same mounting system in the roof rails I think he may be asking are they the same width for both front and back as...

VE Commodore 2006 Stretched Timing Belt

they have a chain not a belt and its more to do with elongation of the links by only a few mm over the length of the chain that causes the issue which I believe has more to do with a lower quality part from supplier for the ve. I would say for that price they didn't do the full list of parts...
