    Octane Rating 91 or 98?

My VF SII SV6 got 6.5l/100km as it's best ever economy. I did nanny the car to see how far it would go. Normal was mid 7s for my SW Sydney to Albion Park daily work drive

    Battery Life

Just replaced my OEM battery in my Aug 2012 E3 Clubsport. Not bad getting over 10 years from a battery. Hopefully I get a decent life out of the replacement. Car has lived on a CTek 0.8A charger/conditioner for the last 5 years as it's a weekender only these days.

    battery life

I own an August 2012 built Clubsport that I purchased brand new in 2013 that is still on its factory battery. It was a daily drive till 2017 and added a CTek 0.8A trickle charger in about 2018 while it lives under cover in the garage. It comes out to play about once a month and never had a...

What to buy to replace the ZB?

I currently have an E3 Clubsport, mildly upgraded which lives in the garage and my previous two dailies were a VE and VF SV6. I sold the VF last year as I put a lot of km on my cars to/from work. Last May I purchased a demo Skoda Superb Sportsline liftback (with 1000km on the clock). It has...

    VF SSVR windscreen rattle/squeaks

As Skylarking said, lift the seal against the body and spray. I sold that car over 12 months ago, so I can’t take a picture.

    Holden Servicing VF SSV Man

I have a service sticker on the top left hand side of the windscreen of each of my three cars with just the date. Eg 1 May, no year and it’s there for life, as a reminder. But in NSW, the green slip renewal and the rego papers arriving in the post is also a decent reminder.

Transmission needs replacing after 109000km. F*#k holden servicing!

Assuming you had the standard three year, 100,000 km warranty, it’s out of warranty regardless of what servicing they were doing anyway. If they were doing log book, or interim servicing of the car, they wouldn’t be replacing the transmission fluid anyway. If you’d upgraded to 5 year, 175,000...

    VF2 SS - Black edition

My E3 HSV ran only on Mobil 1 all it's life, until I had the car cammed and tuned and some other nice bolt ons added. The engine builder told me to go to a slightly heavier oil and suggested "Penrite Racing 10". Said he's been using and servicing his customers road and track V8 cars with it for...

Are VF II's getting the asking price?

I'm with you on this. I wish i could have afforded to not drive my E3 Clubsport when I bought it, but it was my daily for 4 years. I do however, have the EH from when I first started driving and yes they're demanding crazy money these days. I saw on eBay, a set of brand new EH hubcaps, still in...

LS3 Owners - anyone had an oil pump replaced?

When I was getting my engine work done on my LS3 powered E3 HSV, the mechanic said the oil pressure was low, and had replaced a few pumps because of low pressure. Which it was, especially with heat. The new aftermarket one runs much better pressure than the OEM

    CTEK Chargers

I have 2 x 0.8A CTek units plugged in permanently on my EH Holden and my E3 Clubby that live in the garage. The E3 was built in Aug 2012 and was my daily for 5 years and now sits under a cover 29 out of 30 days a month. The battery in the E3 is the factory original and I put that down to the...

VF Series 2 Redline Holden service damage

Sutton’s Chullora repainted my calipers after damage to the clear coat after I specifically requested them not to change the brake fluid, but they did, “because it was due”. I also request the dealer to not wash my cars when they service. I don’t want them using their harsh chemical what strip...

    Bridgestone or Michellin

I have not driven on the S007A, but the PS4s are a whole new level over anything I’d driven on the street before. I’ve just sold my VF and I’m giving the new owner a full set of 050A with the car as they won’t be going on my HSV after experiencing the PS4s on it.

    Five year checks

Look all over and under looking for evidence of a leak from anywhere. This is a common sign of an issue, but these cars are fairly well made mostly. I wouldn’t stress too much about the age. They’re good for much longer.

VF & VE second hand rare & demanding high Prices.

I listed my VF SV6 Black edition sedan on Carsales on Tuesday evening. It’s in beautiful condition. But has 154,000 on the clock. Asking price was $26k. Sold it yesterday to the first person to enquire. And very close to the asking price. Happy boy here

    Trickle/ battery charger

I have a Ctek 0.8a baby charger on both the E3 Clubsport and the EH. They often don’t get started for a month and start easily with the charger. The original battery is still in the HSV, so it’s now 9 years old. When I do take it out, it’s often for a trip to work and back (180km round trip) to...

    Claiming insurance excess on tax

I’d talk to your accountant. My understanding is, if you’re using the “actual costs” method with a log book, then you should be able to claim is as a percentage of business vs private use.

VF II SS cabin air filter

I’ve got two on the way, even though I have a few AC Delco ones in the cupboard. One for the E3 HSV which doesn’t get a lot of use, and the other for my VF daily driver.

Do you want an original splitter or a modified look? Holden will have an original look most likely.

    Oil change interval

My two toys don't get a lot of use each year. The E3 R8 does 2000 - 3000km a year and the EH between 1000-2000km a year. Both are way to valuable to worry about being a tight arse with $100 worth of oil and filter each every 12 months. They get done regardless. Every two years, the gearbox oil...

    Ve Sv6 Air Filter

There's a good chance your Check Engine Light will pop on wiyh just and OTR and no tune. The tune is needed to allow the engine management system to take full advantage of the increase in available air entering the combustion chamber. It will increase the amount of petrol to match the air mix...

Paint Protection. Should I get it or just use a GOOD Polish

It's important to understand what each type of product does and then decide. Polish works by cuttng a layer off the top of your paint to reveal a new fresher layer underneath. (Ideal for neglected paint surfaces, but not good if the paint is thin) Wax fills the gaps in paint and puts a layer...

    Another Engine Oil thread!!

After getting work work done on my LS3 12 months ago to up it from 325 to 407 at the flywheel, the mechanic recommended swapping from Mobil 1 to Penrite Racing 10. As above, the oil pressure stays much higher when the car gets warm compared to when it was running 5w-30. I just picked up 20litres...

VF SS Series 2 Paddle Shifter

I had the paddle shifters added to my VF SII SV6 by the dealer when I bought the car. They forgot to tweak the software to tell the car it was there so they didn't work till I took the car back. Probably has instructions with the kit when you buy the new wheel, but something needs to be changed...

    Intro and LS3 ticking

If you have the known LS3 lifter issue, it will tick very clearly (at times) and if the bonnet is up, you'll be able to narrow it down to which bank it's coming from (left or right) and front or back. Mine had lifters and cams replaced just before warranty ran out.

SV6 E2 bumpyness problem, need help.

I lost faith totally in the rear end of my E3 HSV, thinking I was up for big $$$ doing the suspension bushes and struts. The car would wriggle badly sideways on anything other than glass smooth surfaces while cornering. Changed tyres from 1/2 worn Continentals Sport 6 to Michellin PSP4s and the...

Who thinks the cruise control system in the VF sucks?

My S2 SV6 is the same, quite accurate at maintaining speed up and down small hills, but will run away, it doesnt brake like my E3 Clubby down hills.

Are 20 inch Continental SC6 any good for SSV2

I put Conti Sport 6s on the rear of my E3 HSV and loved them initially, but at about 50% wear, I pulled them off as I lost faith in the rear end and it jiggled around way too much on anything not perfect. As Ron suggested Pilot Sport 4s are fantastic. But I haven't got lot of km on mine, so not...

    VF throttle body service ?!

Suttons offer me the same service every time and I decline. Usually I clean the TB myselg the weekend before the service. I ask the service adviser, "is it really dirty enough to need to be cleaned? Because I only cleaned it on the weekend" and the response is usually "Oh we haven't cleaned it...

    VF Series 1 Bonnet Scoops

I believe it's a straight swap over. Non V8 Series II had the same bonnet as all series I. You could always cut your Series I bonnet and insert the vents.

GOOD POLISH / WAX FOR THINNING BLACK METALLIC

Best thing I would suggest is a clay bar and sealant only. It'll add layers of protection over what's there, rather than thinning what's there before you coat it. Polish = paint removal

Why I would not buy a GM product again

Current daily (VFII SV6) came from Muirs also and besides the terrible pre delivery job on the car, I've only made one warranty claim in the 100,000km life and that was a semi broken drivers seat back - the replacement is starting to do the same. But otherwise it's been great. It's now serviced...

    Opinion: on tyres

Just checking, you have 17" wheels and tyres on 3 places and a 15" on the fourth position? Get the guy doing the wheel alignment to check all your bushes and setting in case there's something worn that caused the original wear problem. And only ever mix tyre sizes for emergencies, not for day...

New family car - Subaru ?

They're also dirty engines and need the upper engine clean at regular intervals. I didn't find parts were cheap compared to anything with Holden badge on it. I struggle with the lack of headroom in the premium models (because of the sunroof, and the Povo packs don't have enough adjustability in...

    Bridgestone or Michellin

I've run a lot of tyres on my Commodores and E3. Bridgestone 050A's, is used to rate as the better tyre of the OEM bunch, but decided to change to Conti's (5P on the front of the HSV and 6's on the rear), and whilst a good tyre when new, were terrible by the time they were half worn. To the...

Full comprehensive insurance quotes for VK Group C replica?

Try www.enthusiast.com.au. I have my E3 with them for half the price I was paying with GIO. And when I modded the engine/exhaust, it cost me an extra $11/ month - I could have added a supercharger without paying any additional than the $11. It's a named driver policy and max 5000km /year (you...
