hard shift from 1st to 2nd

That's a decent 16 years of thread digging! Anyways apart from the usual TV cable adjustment and ATF fluid level check, there's also the TPS plastic guide sleeve that fits on the TB before installation of the TPS. Have you taken the TB off, as that's when a lot of people lose the small plastic...

Torque converter faults after engine out - engine in event

If the Torque Lockup Convertor is not slotted onto the transmission pump extension spindle in the proper three stages, then all types of issues will present themselves when driving. Take your car back & they will have to pull the transmission out, redo it properly & make sure all the electrical...

Torque converter clutch not locking up

This issue is usually the overdrive solenoid on the TH700R that is either not functioning or not communicating with the ECU. The solenoid normally is energised by a signal from the ECU which gets it's readings from the VSS to lockup into direct drive after 75-80kms/phr. Also the VSS (vehicle...

    Supercharging VP Commodore

All good I haven't logged in for a quiet a while & noticed this thread active, so that's how I noticed as I'm in the process of transplanting a worked 3800 which will most likely include the GM Eaton M62 as pictured. That other one on gumtree might even be an M112, with the right engine bay...

    Supercharging VP Commodore

This is an GM 3800 Eaton M62 top mount supercharger to fit a VN / VP / VR - V6 - which is mine, that link on the gumtree advert is for an LSJ or a Merc, definitely not for the 3800 ..

    Supercharging VP Commodore

Hi mate, I have done my research extensively & actually have a reco'd & ported M62, rotors & snout completely renewed, with the correct lim (lower intake manifold) & gaskets, polished fuel rails, custom made chromed "U" bend/elbow for the 70mm throttle body, 42psi injectors, & L67 coolant pipe...

Oct 1991 SrsI S-Pack VP HSV optioned

Cool mate, here are a few older pics from last year of the S-Pack (SS) interior, I sold the rear "Aunger Louvre" which was pretty good for the heat up here. Have had darkest legal tint all round for awhile now, which is really great + last pic is the boot install with the lid off. I am really...

Oct 1991 SrsI S-Pack VP HSV optioned

Thanks for the compliments! , I have a bunch of interior pics I took a while back, so I will post them soon. I also have a custom tailored semi leather interior to install, I designed it & an upholstery place created it - they even got the T23i trim colour bang on! Got a new MOMO steering...

Oct 1991 SrsI S-Pack VP HSV optioned

This is one of my vehicles being a '91 SrsI S-Pack VP HSV optioned by first owner, I'm the 2nd owner so not many around like mine in the 8 years I've owned it. I've only ever seen one other & that's me living in the 3 Eastern States. If you know me then you know what it's capable of due to the...

    Gearbox and engine mounts

Gear box mount is pretty easy to do yourself, & takes next to no time. Engine mounts are a PITA but I still do my own installation. If you're doing the engine mounts yourself, make sure you have a decent pry-bar as aligning both the mounts even with the brackets loose really requires a second...

what did you do to your car today?

Fitted New Front Radius Rods, New 30mm K-Mac Front Swaybar, New Balljoint style Wasp Front Link pins, plus a New Adjustable Rear Whiteline 22mm Swaybar & the accessory kit with it, that replaces the traditional rear link pins. Handles beautifully, adjusted the K-Mac adjusting bearing tops so I...

    these injectors any good?

Nigel knows all - no pun intended, very knowledgeable as usual - but I'd just say that for the average layman getting a set of VT injectors & installing them into a VN/VP drop n' go, is not good. You will find out how much extra fuel you go through, I discussed this with another member a few...

    slight shake at 2500rpm

New coolant temp sensor & New Inlet Manifold Gaskets may solve it, other than that maybe the fuel reg is not doing it's job, BTW if you're running your vehicle with no air filter the MAF becomes the next stop point for foreign material. If plugs are dirty pull them out & give the contact points...

    slight shake at 2500rpm

OP. this could very well be the MAF playing up perhaps as it is one of the main factors in communicating to the PCM what happening in-terms of air intake

    exhaust leak

Simply go for a drive then let it be for 20mins, then apply the cement on the affected area & push it in well where you believe the leak is happening. The heat from the drive will assist the concrete bonding, just don't do immediately after a long stint or expect exhaust pipe burns.

    Best $6000 Commodore

Op, IMO it really does come down to knowledge, 6K will get you a very well looked after VY & as stated by many in this thread the Ecotec & related components are straight forward to fix & parts are in abundance. I do all servicing myself so beware of a lot of cars for sale, as most of the...

    Ratlley Pulley?

OP, you need to remove it as an assembly or the a/c support pulley bracket will break. Do your best not to damage as it's made of a sandcasted alloy compound.

Help Needed ..its doing my head in

If it's your car then a unique Zardi key specific to the VIN is standard issue to disable the built in engine immobiliser. Beyond that, a secondary after market system will have a tumbler code therefore no way to start the car, unless you strip it & re-wire the brains.

Clunk of death - Feedback needed.

centre drive shaft bearing is warped by the sound of it, easier to get an exchange drive shaft, as that way you know all uni's are new plus the centre bearing.

    Vy s2 commodore leaking coolant

To be thorough you will need to have a leak down test done firstly, which will be not much or free because they will hope for you to spend thousands for them to do repairs if found to be required. For your OP though, It will be the water pump, & thermostat sticking from your description - which...

    VS Auto trans issues

Nothing to worry about from what I read, your PCM (ECU) is in control of the Auto Transmission being Electric, & with 5 people it would have a sense of more weight same as towing etc. Same thing with the earlier TH700 in VN/VP, except they are Hydraulic (operate on line pressures only) except...

    The VP Vibration Project.

i use a 14,400 btu B&M supercooler of which i run through the oem oil cooler with in the radiator. the noise you hear could well be the standard accumulator valve plates with the standard hydraulic pressure pushing the check balls into place & in action the box sounds long in the tooth (like...

    K&N "mythbusted"

K&N are the goods full stop. I have the Pathy R50 & VP-S (both have the same P/N Being KN 33-20312) which is Ryco air filter A360. I have found increased throttle response with the 4WD plus better fuel eco, & naturally better all round performance for VP-S, considering all the other mods...

    WM V8 Caprice is squealing

take it off clean it with proper degreaser wash, let dry thoroughly then when placed back on - start engine & use a cake of soap applied to the belt's inner side, then outer side whilst engine is spinning. That belt grip stuff is junk - good for making tyres shine perhaps, good ol' soap cake...

VP Auto Selector Wont come out of Park

inhibitor switch is in need of replacing IMO, but you would be checking that the selector linkage is correct. Trans Oil Check? If low then top up if required - either ways do your local research for good transmission places. The next time you get it going, drive straight to the chosen one for a...

VP Calais hi-rev when starting with a warm motor.

Throttle Position Sensor, or a vacuum hose that is on it's way out (heat expands the cracks in the offending hose - then higher revs result) . Could be the manifold gasket needs replacing, but still thinking TPS though. Usual response is :- 1) first check your codes, 1) first get the Gregory's...
