Screeching (?) sound coming presumably from steering column in VE Series II Commodore

Lift the bonnet then start the engine and turn the steering wheel each way, and if it squeals in the engine bay it might need a new belt and may need a new idler pulley. Also if it squeals when you hit the go pedal same thing applies.

Re: Driver's door outer latch loose - clip fallen into door.

The pic is not a drivers handle but same idea. Plastic seal around the outside and 2 nuts hold the outer handle in place. The rod you refer to probably connects to the black clip in the right top corner.

Car failing to start, clicks but doesn’t crank, when it eventually cranks it will turnover - VZ Commodore

There are clicks, and then there are click clicks. I have found a faulty battery will usually make the starter turn then create a number of clicks where as a faulty starter will usually only click once or twice then no more until the key is turned off then on again. I mentioned on here before...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Is it really a question of supply or are there way too many people coming in the gate from other countries. Migration is booming and every extra person needs somewhere to live but of course while blind freddy can see this it appears the public service can't see we are being overpopulated by...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

A quick calculation says you could buy the ICE version at around $115,000.00 and put up to 500,000 k's of fuel in it at $3/litre for the same price of the E version at $255,000.00 As for being subsidized you get the GST back roughly $23,000 providing you buy it not lease it, and most people...

For all those EV/BV lovers, the ultimate ute is here. The E Ute has arrived in the form of a Ford F150. It is called Lightening. Just what all the tradies and grey nomads need. Prices start around $225,000.00 + onroads or for the upmarket version just $255,000.00 or you can get a few extras...

    Side indicator delete

Actually at age 19 we would take an FJ Holden with only one tail light and add indicators and extra tail lights, then the public servant would tell us to remove them cause it was not manufacturers specification. Thinking more about it Jadster, if you do remove them, move to the Sunshine Coast...

Like everything in this world we have to agree or disagree with something and I disagree with you, why not give it a quick scrub. I don't consider 90 in a 110 zone correct cause that is what they are doing. I at least know my speedo is 4 k fast at 110 so I am only over by 1 to 4 k's but gees, having to back off to 90 is beyond a joke.

Gees why blame the grey nomads ( I am of the age but not a nomad ) and when I have to go to Bris on cruise at 115-118 in the 110 zone I am constantly held up by people who are waaaay younger than me all sitting in the right lane.

The future is fooked. Now as to retirement villages, as immort states they are a scam but the biggest scam is the fact when you buy in you are buying the lease on your unit, not the unit itself, then you pay a weekly fee for services i.e grounds maintenance, common areas, staff etc and when you...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Nothing to do with politics. all to do with common sense which ?, well, is not too common. Of course the EV owners are happy, they are yet to see the light or the actual cost, besides, most people never admit to their mistakes. And I have noticed an awful lot of EV owners/drivers have the...

Wow, those figures sound incredible until you factor in the cost of the EV cost of battery replacement cost of the PV system and as I read yesterday interest in RV's in europe is waning due mainly to cost of EV range anxiety lack of charging stations which may be why Tesla laid off 10000 staff...

    Not starting

Does it have plenty of fuel because if the fuel is low and the vehicle is parked leaning into the kerb on the passenger side, they can have trouble with the fuel pump not picking up fuel. If this is the case then maybe push the car to level ground.

VN auto speedo sensor oil leak

These pics may help The large O ring is 54mm approximate outside dia and 3 approx thick. The orange seal is obviously holden exclusive I would think but you could try a hydraulic repair place. Thank you for all the replies I found these when cleaning out cupboards, along with a stack of imperial spanners, and while I knew what they were used for way back then, I was unsure of the starter size. OK brains trust, which of these spanners suit the 149/179/186/202 starters. The 5/8 to 9/16AF or the 1/2 to 9/16AF or is it the 9/16 that is important.

    Replacing Door

LOL nah, if one of the 3 the angle grinders (4"/ 5"/ 9") can't fix it the oxy comes next. I once fitted a 313 cu inch Chrysler v8 into an FC Holden ute using not much more than a 9" grinder, arc welder, oxy gear and a few ring spanners. The authorities would jail me if i did that today.

    Replacing Door

Usually to remove riverts, you drill through them with the same size drill bit, or at worst, chop the headfs off with a sharp chisel (I use a carpenters chisel bc I have a few). I had replace a window mechanism and window and drilled out the riverts then replaced the riverts with some 3/16"...

Inflation is simply the public service printing more money and giving it to people who usually unwisely spend it and inflate the economy, meaning business get busier so they jack up their prices.
