VZ Missing on Idle - New sparks and coild fitted.

Mine turned out to be a dodgy o2 sensor i think the L/H front wide-band one i only have the front ones left iv got custom extractors and exhaust so had the rear o2's and cats removed. Had no fault code for o2 sensor but i noticed on my scan tool the heater circuit on one was turning on an off...

VZ Missing on Idle - New sparks and coild fitted.

Iv got the same problem i think timing chain may be the problem. With mine for the last month every now and again sitting in traffic in gear it would miss once or twice and come right (ignition miss like a dud coil). The last 3 days its got worse sometimes rough idle and a funny knocking sound...

    Changing the BCM/ECm? Starter problems

Im not 100% sure because iv never tried but my scan tool has an option to re-link bcm also it codes keys so if it was me id get a 2nd hand bcm and re-link it then reprogram my original keys. (your local holden dealer should be able to do this) If your sure its the bcm try remove the plugs give...

    **WARNING** VZ V6 Owners

Magnatec is exactly the oil your not meant to run in these engines that's what this whole thread is about lol if you want castrol get something like castrol edge 5W-30. But I use Royal Purple 5W-40 full synthetic as far as im concerned its the best oil for these engines if you want cheap oil...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

This is all a bit new to me but iv made sure to add in all the things that make a complete exhaust system as a bit of an experiment. From what i worked out my primaries have to be 1 5/8" x 36 1/2 from the ex valve to the point they merge. There is no real collector length with a merge collector...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

Worked it out ill put in 4 o2 sensors and put diodes in the after cat ones they use like 0.4-0.5v so ecu sees perfect working cats. Have you ever made pressure wave termination style resonators? iv worked out i need 2 x between 4600-7200cc ill probly just make some empty hotdogs using a 3.5"pipe...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

I was thinking the wide bands just after the venturis and the other 2 about a foot downstream from the 1st ones. Im not running cats in NZ we dont have to (and im a authorised vehicle inspector) from the collectors its something like 30" to the resonator boxes with a cross over somewhere in...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

Quick update To those asking is it worth the effort HELL YEAH just to learn something new and there's plenty of other reasons like being able to sit back and say yip i designed and built those from scratch. I must say though it is a lot of effort but well worth it. finally got some...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

Cheers for your input iv taken a few notes and yea im making a proper exhaust system to go with them. Im still trying to workout the best position to place the 4 o2 sensors there must be some way of working out where they will work best any ideas?

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

Sorry for the late reply yea iv got facebook youll find me under Michael Jarden or mike@drifta. co. nz Im always keen to chat about cars and making parts for them at the moment im trying to design pressure wave termination boxes to get the most out of the extractors but with vortexes in the end...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

Update: Had way to many parties over christmas and new years still haven't got round to welding them up yet iv got most of the pipes cut and the hard parts made just need to pull my exhaust system off and tack them up on the car. Trial fitted PVC mock ups and measured each pipe length and volume...

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

The shorter the header primaries the higher the tuned rpm most off the shelf stuff is made to bolt on so compromise is made. And i think 4500 is right for street use ill gain low down torque and make more top end power if my calculations are right.

[Alloytec] Designing tuned length alloytec 190 extractors

So iv got a few weeks of holidays coming up and i know ill get board not working on cars all day so im going to make some extractors custom made for my engine to learn something new iv never really looked at the science behind extractors and iv spent 3h a night for the last 3 nights collecting...

    Questions about lowering.

If i was to make you a quote at my work to change the front and rear springs 3 hours. At home to do it your self allow 6 hours and make sure you have a spanner big enough for the front top strut mount its like 22mm or 24mm and make sure you let the hand brake off when doing the rears or the rear...

    Questions about lowering.

I just put a camber kit (bushes) in the back of my vz i lowered it and drove around for a month to let the springs settle in before i replaced the bushes and got a wheel alignment. Its not a small job unless your smart! normally the bolts that hold in the bushes wont come out unless you drop the...

Vz sv6 auto won't rev past 4 grand in gear

If it was me i would drop the tank out and pull the pump out it has a small filter on the pump inside a small anti surge reservoir could be blocked. Another thing could be water in fuel if you filled your car from an empty tank at the station the get moisture in them.

    turning right vibration

Check both front wheels are tight first the only thing i can think of is maby the extractors run really close to the steering rack you turn one way it pushes the rack away from the extractors and if you turn the other way it pushes the rack into the extractors. Id also check the inner wheel...

    turning right vibration

Eng mount is possible but i wouldnt think you would feel it through the steering normally only the body. More details would help slow =0-5km, 0-50km will it do it if the car is stationary? is the vibration the same feeling through the steering wheel and the body, is the steering easyer to turn...

    Massive fuel usage.

The trip computer only gives you an average sitting in traffic and driving like a hoon will mess with the reading. The only real way to work out litres per 100km is to fill your tank reset the odometer drive 100km and fill your tank again should take around 14 litres and compare average on trip...

    Blackening Tail lights and Spoilers

I took my spoiler off and tinted the lights and in New Zealand if you do it right its legal even though if you read the warrant of fitness *guide lines* yes there is fine print that says they are only guide lines it all comes down to the Land Transport Act 2004. I am an authroised vehicle...

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

Ahh now i wonder if the holding botton and starting turns this off i know the light just comes up saying T/C off but the fact that you cant just turn it back on untill you turn the car off im guessing must mean there is more to it then just turning T/C off.

Crewman Rear Springs V8 and V6

Yeah you should really check whats going on underneath it may be your diff hitting your fuel tank not the tray iv seen this before it should be as easy as taking the lowering blocks out and getting some orignal u bolts and you also have to adjust the load sensing proportioning valve if you raise...

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

Looks like theres no real answer to what cars have t/c or esp but im still wondering if it changes anything if you hold down the button and start the car instead of just switching the traction control off while driving. I tested today and it works on my mates commodore just havnt had a chance to...

    Flappy Paddle Gear Shifters.

lol yea ill trade you my engine, gearbox and steering wheel for yours that way you can pretend to be a F1 driver and be the only person on earth to do a v6 conversion on a clubsport.

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

Yeah the vz sv6 has Stability control, Electronic Stability Programe (ESP) what ever you want to call it mine does anyway. The clubby i drove with the ESP button was a series 1 VY R8 6speed ill see the car tomorrow so ill have another look to be sure.

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

I drove a vy clubsport the other day and it definitely had an extra button for ESP maby only the HSV's have them then.

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

I dont think you get it its like a special traction control mode thats turns off even more electronics then the normal mode (i think)
  37. OS-Mike

Holding down traction control button and starting car.

Iv just noticed if i start my car holding the T/C button it turns off the traction control completely (vz sv6) and you cant turn it back on till you turn the motor off. But im wondering if it also turns the ESP off because it dosnt have a button for it like the v8s anybody know anything more...
