Fitting VZ front suspension into VXII

Not at all. Appreciate sharing your data. Thank you. Surprised they went backwards with vx2 rear swaybar? As in from 17 to 16mm

Fitting VZ front suspension into VXII

Khfs22 khrl125. All new bushes. Wheel alignment:yes. No play in inner or outer tie rod. Only thing I have to do is check pinion preload

Fitting VZ front suspension into VXII

I would say yes, slightly more body roll, feels heavier to turn/doesn't feel as light in the front end/doesn't under steer as easy as the sv6. I always thought the chassis in the vz's were slightly stiffer maybe due to better design/more welds during manufacture. The king springs are...

    LS1 Head removal questions

Hey guys, pretty happy with my results. I changed the lifters with LS7 and my startup rattle is greatly reduced. I am getting good oil pressure. Also the tapping noise I had is GONE. Happy days

    [LS1] Decking the block

Hey gang, good news. I got the engine back together finally with some serviced heads. I left the gouges in the block and just cleaned up the surface the best I can with razor blades. I think I used a 50 pack in total just using new ones as soon as I nicked them in any way. Carefully using the...

Fitting VZ front suspension into VXII

Yep, fe2. It felt this way when it had stock springs and new ultima shocks. Now it has regular height king springs with KYB shocks and still doesn't feel as good as the sv6. All new bushes as well. My rego paper says 1602kg for the ss and 1552kg tare for the sv6. I think my steering rack could...

Fitting VZ front suspension into VXII

Hey guys, Will a VZ strut and sway bar link kit to match fit directly into a VX II? The VZ links have double ball joints which I think would be better. Obviously you need struts to match. Has anyone done this before? How did you go? Is it much of an improvement in handling? I remember my vz SV6...

oil pump goner or blocked lifter?

Good news, It was a blocked lifter that I was luckily able to free up by shooting some brake clean down the pushrod hole and then using the pushrod and bit of wood to free up the plunger. Dropped the milky oil (woops) fired up with fresh oil and she's purring. Hopefully I haven't done any...

oil pump goner or blocked lifter?

Thanks for your input. I'm thinking that a lifter is blocked. Trying to avoid pulling the head again so if anyone has some suggestions it's always appreciated! It appears when I tighten the rocker back up it compresses the valve spring a bit even on base circle. Preload on all other lifters had...

oil pump goner or blocked lifter?

Hi lads, I finally got around to replacing the lifters, bolting the heads back on etc. I still get quite a loud tapping (see video I had it running for 10mins thinking it might go away). I think it's louder than before but same sorta sound. Noted: -Oil pressure stayed at 30psi on idle even...

[LS1] Valve tip & rocker wear cause

Cylinder 3 intake valve. So sort of at the end but I would consider cylinder 2 to have the lowest oil pressure at any given time. Thanks for your suggestion. The lifter pushrod seat and pushrod appears good as well as the pushrod seat in the rocker. just not the valve /rocker tip. Fingers...

[LS1] Valve tip & rocker wear cause

Hey gang, Just some more vague information which I would like your opinion on.. ha ha.. After pulling both heads I have found one valve tip & rocker arm to have gouging. The other 15 had no gouging like this (perfectly flat valve tip/smooth rocker arm tip). Wondering if anyone has a similar...

[LS1] Marks on piston & head

Thanks for your input. What method do you use to clean the carbon off the piston tops? I was going to just scrape off the carbon in the middle with a plastic scraper after soaking with oil but I think I'll clean the whole thing after being reminded of the issues hotspots may cause.

[LS1] Marks on piston & head

Cylinder wall is all good. Thanks for your reply. In terms of this carbon- do you mean at the top of the cylinder above where the compression ring would reach at TDC? Does this help seal? Some of it has come off from having cleaner sprayed on it when removing gasket residue.

[LS1] Marks on piston & head

That's a good guess. Thanks everyone for your input. I am dumping a fair bit of cash into her so just want to be sure it's worth it.

[LS1] Marks on piston & head

Hey gang, Curious what people think these marks may be? There was nothing loose in the cylinder once the head was pulled. I'm thinking either: -detonation -contamination (big chunk of carbon) -engine damage (piece of piston ring that has exited exhuast?)

    [LS1] Decking the block

Thanks mate, appreciate the effort you put in your post. And the grease trick is brilliant. I'll def do that. I have seen this bulletin which is why I went down the razor blade route. Can anyone comment on deck flatness specs? My service manual says 0.22mm but I've seen .004in max on most...

    [LS1] Decking the block

Good idea. What would be a good size for the LS block? Bigger than the bore (4 inch) or small and just go around the entire surface slowly and carefully? Also, wet (wd40) or dry? Thanks (really don't want to stuff this up)

    [LS1] Decking the block

Can you recommend any store items for a 100% flat bar? Would a honing stone or sharpening stone from Repco/bunnings be dead flat? Otherwise I guess I'll have to call around to some machine shops

Great. Would you also recommend doing this to the head deck if i'm not having it machined?

    [LS1] Decking the block

Thanks Shane. Sounds like a good idea to remove any potential high spots. Any particular grit range recommended as I thought the MLs gaskets require quite a smooth surface.

    [LS1] Decking the block

After pulling the heads to inspect and replace my lifters I've managed to put a few gouges in my block when cleaning up the deck with a razor blade ready for a new head gasket. I'm hoping the viton parts of the new gasket fill the troughs and block any coolant leaks. I'm thinking I should sand...

    Oil pressure gauge install

Hi, I think I posted this originally in the wrong section... I have a VX SS series 2 and planning to install an oil pressure gauge. For those that have done this with the same setup (2002 ls1) – which way did you do it? I was going to buy an adapter plate for just above the oil filter...

    LS1 Head removal questions

Hey team, I've decided to pull the heads to see if my lifters are worn out after some intermittent ticking and have a few questions. Appreciate help on any of these! 1 The lifter bodies and the bottom of the lifter bores are scuffed ever so slightly - no gouges - just superficial wear (can...

    Ls1 oil pump replacement.

Thanks for your reply. I have a rattle on startup but my oil light doesn't turn on. So I'm thinking my problem is the lifters. If I remember I will post back with the result. I'm in the middle of a year down. Did you get your lifters replaced at the same time? It's good to know you can check oil...

VZ Crewman 5.7 litre LS1 Oil Pressure Issues - wierd symptoms.

Hi, did you replace the oil pump for extra precaution? It sounds like the pickup tube O ring was causing the issue so wondering why you also replaced the pump. I have the startup rattle and trying to get away with only replacing the O ring! Cheers

New brake caliper or just new slide pins?

Hey legends, I have just replaced a shotty wheel bearing on the front LHS which I believe has caused wear to my slide pins on the brake caliper due to the abnormal forces from the disc not running true. Basically wondering if I should just buy a caliper rebuild kit with new slide pins...
