    Ideas for a modern classic

We all have favs, but for me it would be a WRX, or a 2004-2007 Forester XT. Some tidy turbos around, comfortable, plenty of grunt, and hot up bits. Already a bit of a cult car.

    When does acceleration become 'uncomfortable'

The latest R35 GTR will run 2.7 0-100. Would be interesting to drive one.

    Share your health battles

I think as calaber said, life in years could be a problem, but medical improvement means we are still here, and live the life you can, while you can. My dad went at 70, mum 67, so I dont plan on much past 70-80 if lucky. I have a buggered back as well, some arthritis, and other minor issues(eye...

    Share your health battles

I had an irregular heart beat back in 2002, had a pacemaker installed, and when doing the Echo they found a faulty aortic valve, which at the time wasnt a major issue. Over the years the valve got worse, and in 2011, I had to have open heart surgery to put in a new valve. All good untill about...

I dont mind the Astra hatch, 206kw, 400nm, could be interesting. Anyway, I have already made the switch to Subaru.

    Subaru Legacy EZ30 6 cyl?

Dont know much about the pre 2003 models, they had lower power ratings to the 2003 onwards. I had a 2005 Outback with the 3.0 six cyl engine, was a great car. Some have done over 600,000ks on these engines in the USA. As you say, the head gasket problem is the 4 cyl ones, although a lot have...

    Blocking automatic Windows 10 update

I had the same problem at work the other day. My boss fixed it, as I am a basic computer user. In saying that, I have updated to 10 at home, and its very similar to 7. I had 8.1 on this desk top when I bought it, and I couldnt master that at all. Go with the 10, its not that much different.

    Demise of the Forum?

The 4x4 forums seem to still be busy. I get on a couple, and they always have something on the go. But, facebook has taken over a bit as far as organizing cruises etc. Other car forums I get onto are falling, one struggles to get a post once a month on the SA section. Peoples choice of cars...

    Cheapest Fuel seen

I got my license in 1969, 1st car in 1970, petrol was 25cents a gallon. As a 1st year apprentice, I was on $10 a week. New Holden was around $2,500. Could go to Adelaide(450ks) on $8 worth of petrol. 20cents worth of fish and chips, couldnt eat them, too much. Miss them days in some ways.

    Will you still be interested?

I see it as, I grew up with Holdens, not Commodores. I have had a few Commodores, but the true Holdens will be the cars that I will remember, not so much the Commodores. Chrome bumpers forever:rockon:

    Will you still be interested?

I am with most on here, I was brought up on Holdens, did my apprenticeship at a Holden dealer(truck side), my dad had holdens, and I have had quite a few over my 46 years of driving. I wont forget the classics, but have moved on with my needs(as Caliber has said). Will see what comes along in...

So I'm abandoning the Commodore family...

A mate of mine, who is a one eyed Ford nut, just bought a very tidy 380 Mitso, and says its one of the best cars he has had, and he has had a few. I like my Pajeros.

So I'm abandoning the Commodore family...

Mitsubishi cars and 4x4s are, and have been for a long time, very underrated vehicles. Yes they have their problems(what doesnt) You should enjoy it a lot.

You dont just knock a car up in the back yard, HSV will turn there talents to something else(converting Dodge Rams is on the table) to survive. People have gotta understand that Holden, Falcon will be a thing of the past. They will never come back. Learn to live with the Asian/Euro offerings...

In this day and age, a Camry will do everything legally. . I would get the E3. But then, I wouldnt sell the Pajero.

I would be a bit worried about turd and his towel, and gumboots:hmmm: :rofl2: I have work gear(high vis, torch, hat), panadol, tic tacs, spare pens, sunnies, phone charger. Getting other bits sorted, havent had vehicle for long, fitting up 2nd battery for fridge ATM.

    It's a conspiracy!!

I agree with Jarp, its not fixing the roads, its only spray gravel over the already crappy surface. Total waste of time and money IMHO. Now roadworks are a different thing.

Bought a 2007 Pajero diesel manual late last year. Done a few ks, but has an ARB bar, Warn winch, towbar, electric brake controller.. Ex Tassie Police when new. Have done a few jobs to it, and as usual, still on going. Fitted cargo barrier today, am in the process of fitting up dual battery...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

VS, I agree re the lack of communication to the customer, I work in transport spares, and we are finding more an more big name suppliers dont have the parts, on back order a lot of the time. We then take the hit from the customer who thinks we are the problem. But at least we try and let the...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Word for word I got at Westpac. Told the lady she didnt want to know where she could put the ATM. And now they want to Telemarket their products to you when you go in. Painfull to say the least.

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

My fuse has become that short, I cant even see it:boxing: Banks piddle me off, wanting you to do everything outside at the ATM. I said to one teller, that if we all go out to the ATMs, you wont have a job. She couldnt understand that.:hmmm:

    Holden quitting

You might not like to hear it, but some of that Asian "garbage" is actually far better than the quality Holden have been putting out. Get your head out of the sand, and have a better look at the options.

    club rego vs full rego

Dont know about NSW, but in SA, club rego gives you 90 days, log book as well. Car must be stock over here. If its a fine weather car, you will be struggling to do 60 days. Bloke I work with has a Mustang on club, and the most he evr did was about 60 days, and that was way more than he...

    kidney stones

My wife just went thru the kidney stone problem. She had an 8mm stone, had to spend 2 sessions in hospital over 6 weeks to fix the problem. They put a stent in the 1st time to relieve the pain and pressure off the kidney, then broke it up, and removed it the 2nd time. 5mm is about as big as...
