The fuse is under the dash, Was listed as a spare but had two contacts in it

vq caprice no power to climate control

Is the fuse in it? The reason i ask is because mine was listed on the sticker as a spare fuse but was the climate control panel fuse. The temperature guage is a common thing, a slap on top of the dash normally gets it working.

    Rare Spares repro parts.....

I have been using rare spares parts for over 25 years. And yes i agree with some of whats been said. Some of the parts they make arnt perfect, but whats your option? Do we hand make every part that we cant get? not really an option, or do we put it in the too hard basket and send the car to the...

1986 Automatic - Faulty T-Bar PWR button, what to troubleshoot???

With the PWR button on(with the light on the dash on) 4th gear wont engage, It will stay in 3rd. A common problem with it is the speed sensor on the back of the speedo or the PCB in the cluster. If these have dry solder joints or are faulty, 4th gear will engage and usually wont kick down untill...

    Inside of wheel wells VP

As said unless you plan on spraying a lot of it just get a pressure pack. Otherwise you need the right gun, one that normally screws direct onto the tin. Comes in black and white. Either can be used, but the white is for under topcoats like along the sills on some cars, is easier to cover with...

    VP SS trans problem

Try disconecting the kick down cable off the throttle body and go for a drive, they can stick and cause those sort of problems. And make sure it has returned back before you drive it. Similar problem with mine when the cable was sticking.

    My '79 V8 HZ Ute :)

Its probably a panelvan that has been cut down. Seen them done before, the body and chassis are the same just the roof different. Cut of along the middle of the quarters and thru the windscreen pillars, and weld on a ute roof. Sometimes the join welds can be seen inside the pillars, and panelvan...

loud noise from head and no power

If its down on power and a noise from the head area, sounds like a rocker problem. pull the cover off and have a look, look for a loose arm or damage. If you find nothing start it and then listen and look. The cover is easy to remove ,If you find nothing thats 1 area eliminated.

    dipsticks

Mine from the rubber stop where it rests on top of the tube to the end is 475mm, add line is 16mm from end, full line 34mm from end. That is out of 4.2 blue in vc. EDIT -Just had a look at my vn 5.0, same dipstick but the lines are both about 10mm higher, making the oil level higher So what...

    Uni Joints

I must always get the hard ones, lol. If i tried with just a hammer and socket, i think the new ones would end up all over the floor. Good luck with them.

    Uni Joints

If you dont have a vice i doubt you will be able to do them. I usually put a socket on 1 cap and a bigger socket or a peice of tube over the other, put in the vice do up as tight as you can then hit the vice with the hammer. This will crack it loose and you keep winding them out. And when you go...

no power at all, anywhere. VH 202 trimatic.

The coil should be marked + and - . What ari is saying is you can hook power striaght to the coil from the battery and then short the starter if you just want to start it to make sure it runs. It just bypasses the wiring. I dont have any 6 cyl cars anymore so cant help with a pic. Dont even have...

    vr panhard bar?

Easiest way to see if there are worn bushes in the panhard bar is to grab the wheel arch or towbar and try moving the car back and forth sideways (while still on the ground). You will feel the clunk. If you do feel anything have a look underneath while someone else moves it for you. And any...

no power at all, anywhere. VH 202 trimatic.

As Drewie said, is there an earth wire running to the body? Should be one from the - terminal of the battery to the radiator support. This is where all the body electrics get the earth connection from, which includes the dash of course. try your test light from + battery to a panel and see if...

    VN boot rust problem.

Chip off what you can with a chisel or screwdriver, being carefull not to make the hole bigger. If you leave any thick bits of rust the converter wont get it all and it will keep rusting under it. A couple of shots of rust converter, let dry a couple of days and deadner urathane or seamseal. No overdrive pls help

If it plays up again, (took me a few goes to fix it for good) you need to go over all the solder joints on the dash cluster board. dry solder joints which are very difficult to see need to be resoldered. After i did this it hasnt been a problem for 2 1/2 years now.
