Intense brake squeal with DBA T3 rotors and QFM HPX pads - VF2 SSVR

I'm about to replace my original front rotors at 108K's. They are are worn a bit, haven't measured them but there is a lip there but not excessive. I have the brembo pads which replaced the Ferodo originals. The Ferodo's were a better pad for feel and bite, but were a bit dusty, which sort of...

    LSD & ratio's

Gear noise isn't related to ratio. The noise is created from the gear quality. Some gears are just noisy. The old ZOOM brand gears from the 80's are a classic example. What's the big advantage with going to low ratio's for the street??? 411:1 doesn't make sense?

Master Cylinder Difference SS vs Redline

Hi Sanchez, There's no difference with M/C between redline models. Same P/N. I would suggest you have air hiding somewhere. Apart from the obvious which you appear to have covered, when you fitted the new calipers did you let fluid drain out allowing air back to the ABS unit? If you did then...

    Pulsing sound when braking

The longevity of GM Rotor Discs is shocking. I've had issues with them since the VS Model. When I owned my cherished VT, I must have installed 6 different pairs of front rotors using genuine and quality after-market units. All fix the pulsating feel when new but within 15-20,000 K's it was back...

VE SS-V Redline - Spongy Brembo Brakes

Chambo, Soft pedal normally indicates air in the fluid. Dealers or service centres sometimes just vacuum out the fluid in the resouvior and refill with clean fluid and don't bleed the actual system at all. I replaced my front calipers with the Brembo's and after bleeding them properly I got a...

    Heater Core Replacement Pic's

Thought I'd rebirth this old thread due to a few questions about airbags. Any work around the SRS system should be taken lightly. Everyone knows what an airbag will do if your in it's projector. Following all the factory workshop manual steps must be adhered to for safety. I always treat...

    Redline brakes

Yep, get it right for your needs. I was lucky as the fitted Brembo pads suited my needs. Don't find them dustier than other pads. They do squeak a little when cold but fine when warm. Bleeding brakes is an art even when your an artist. Get this right and it makes a world of difference.:beer chug:

    MY15 VF Commodore

Yer I know, big ass mirrors remind you of poor fifties kid. They don't have to make the mirrors massive. What the mirrors need is a re-shape along the bottom edge by extending the mirror down in the middle to allow the ground to be seen when reversing. When my mirrors are in the correct...

VE SS Cold Starting issue - fixed by fuel brand change - WTF

Thanks for the concern Chris. I was surprised as well to find a brand change in fuel made a big difference. I believed it WAS a fuel dribble issue and I did have a couple of instances where a black smoke startup was observed. However that theory has been put to bed as the different fuel fixed...

VE SS Cold Starting issue - fixed by fuel brand change - WTF

Factory stock. I've tried E85 but found marginal change in performance and greatly reduced fuel economy (100 K's less from the tank). It's also a bit hard to get on my tour map. Even BP outlets are getting scarce around my area. Its Caltex, Shell or 7/11 who take market share!

VE SS Cold Starting issue - fixed by fuel brand change - WTF

As I mentioned earlier, I sent my enquiry to Caltex head office to see if they had any concerns with my dis-like of their Vortex 98 product. This was their reply: The components in Premium Unleaded 98 that have high octane are not very volatile. So when the engine is cold you don’t have...

VE SS Cold Starting issue - fixed by fuel brand change - WTF

Thanks for the replies guys. It's an unusual issue. Have always used Vortex but get it from various outlets so I don't think a contam or batch issue is at play here. Apart from actual fuel brands, I was thinking a little deeper and the possibility of an ignition timing issue on start up when...

    Break upgrade legality

VE Series 2 Sportswagon brake upgrade.

Oh, I thought you had achieved the unachieveable with Brembo's under standard Wheels. I really can't understand why spacers are approval exempt. Effectively spacers increase load/force on to all associated components by means of a wider wheel track (leverage). Not sure of figures but the...

Why do you need Engineering approval to fit SSV Redline spec Brembo's? Also, the photo above from Pirate shows Brembo's (rear I think) under VE SSV wheels! How do they fit???
