    UDC aus ipod interface?!

I have the VE one. It works great, and Vlad is just generally a top bloke to deal with.

    so whats everyones thoughts?

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I don't like it. Where the VE looked purposeful, almost aggressive, the VF just looks... I dunno... watered down. It's like they tried to design it to have such a broad appeal and fit into more than one market segment that it's lost all definition of what...

VE Amp remote wiring, behind glovebox?

If you want proper retained accessory power, yeah. You could get away without using the relay, but I had an issue with video interference caused by the power window motors, so I isolated my devices with the relay.

iQ VE 2 - remote turn on wire for amp?

The easiest retained accessory power wire in a VE is either of the two big green wires in the main harness of the power window switch block. Connect it to a relay, and then use the relay to switch a +12V feed from one of the constant power wires in the headunit harness - They're orange with a...

    Orange sludge found

Drain, thoroughly flush, and refill your cooling system immediately. That orange sludge is what forms when the red GM Dexcool coolant starts breaking down chemically from apparently being mixed with standard green coolant, age, or being exposed to air in the cooling system too long. At the...

VE Radio to VE IQ Setup

Yup. And this is exactly why I haven't given out the VIM details, despite numerous requests for them. Doing the dual-zone conversion, plus all the work on the headunit, and integrating the media player, I'm going on $3k spent... Unfortunately, for those of us that have pioneered all this stuff...

Lowered it. King SLs on the rear, SSLs on the front, with shortened shocks. I might go take some glamour shots with the good camera this afternoon.

To give you some idea of what's changed in the interior alone, here is a picture of the interior when I bought the car, and here is a picture of the interior now from roughly the same angle.

what did you do to your car today?

Bit of both. Looked in the service manual and started pulling the old glass out, but it started raining and I just said screw it.

    engineering mode-engine oil life

I use it to manage oil changes in between my services... It usually gets to between 50 and 60% halfway between service intervals, which is when I do the extra oil change.

what did you do to your car today?

Used this: (Yes, a VE rear door does fit in the back of a Hyundai Getz!) To turn this: Into this: $300 for the door, plus $50 to get it retinted (not yet done) beats the $1856 quote I got to repair it.

    Low Quality Tint

Yup. Scott did my VE, my partner's Getz, and my ex's Cruze, and all three came up fantastically. 20%, 35%, and 20% respectively. I'll be getting him to re-tint the rear door I'm replacing on the VE shortly.

Car Audio Melbourne - need rear fader activated in ute (IQ)

Series 1 is easy. The option is right there in the service menu. I suspect it was also in the service menu on the VY/VZ Blaupunkt units too. Being Windows CE based, It's entirely possible the Series 2 units can only be changed with a Tech2 or MDI - Unfortunately, none of the people reverse...

    Best colour for a ve

Personally, I love the look of Evoke. To my eyes, it just suits the VE shape. I settled for a Nitrate (i.e Silver) 60th Anniversary when I should have just held out a few weeks and gotten an Evoke one.

what did you do to your car today?

Cleaned it very thoroughly, inside and out. She scrubs up nicely for a 4 year old hack that's done nearly 170,000km. Also came up with a stupidly cheap fix for the scratches in the leather. Before: After: There aren't that many, but the really obvious ones are now nearly invisible unless...

The world trends to smaller cars - or does it???

I am perfectly capable of replying and defending myself, but I've said all I have to say to Sabbath so it's sorta pointless to keep going from here. We're not going to see eye-to-eye, and I have better things to do with my time than arguing with someone on the internet.

    Changing Cluster light colour?

You can unplug all the parts, take them to your workbench and do it there... I'm pretty sure that's how everyone else has done it (myself included). ;)

The world trends to smaller cars - or does it???

Way to completely miss the point. The article compares a Barina Spark to a large car. The Alto almost the same size and only a bit less powerful than the Barina Spark. The Getz is a little bigger and more powerful than the Barina Spark and the Alto, but still in the ballpark. The article also...

    Oh Holden... No.

So I was reading Holden's feature page for the Barina Spark and saw this: From this, one can assume that the CDX model has no suspension at all, but even better, the rear suspension in the CD model is torsion bean. I know the car is supposed to be cheap and economical, but fitting legumes to...

The world trends to smaller cars - or does it???

Yeah. I'm a chick. That's me in my avatar, and me in my profile pic. My wife is also a chick, strangely enough. We had a wedding, it's not legal unfortunately, but it was ours and the meaning to us was the same nonetheless. It's not exactly what I'd a call a choice, but I'm not one to force...

The world trends to smaller cars - or does it???

I had a Suzuki Alto. I now have a VE Commodore. It was great only paying $45 to fill the Alto once every 10 days. That was about it. What wasn't great was being embarrassed to take anyone in it - Even though it's a 5 door, the rear seats are strictly for appearances only, unless you're...

HI all members, about the 06 VE SS with G8 options?

Right you are indeed. I stand (or rather, sit) corrected. I thought they were actual G8 wheels because they're sold under the brand 'G8 Wheels'. Sadly, I have been taken in by this deceptive marketing scheme and consequently spread this horrible misinformation! I shall now go and eat my own...

HI all members, about the 06 VE SS with G8 options?

Those are G8 wheels. Other than that, it looks just like an SS-V. Might want to point out to the seller that the G8 was only sold in the US for MY08 and 09, so it's pretty unlikely a 2006 built car would have anything G8 on it from the factory...

Death, injuries in Dubbo Street Race

Back in my tow truck driving days, the last ever smash I attended was at a major intersection about 300m from our depot - we picked up minor accidents there quite often as we could usually hear them. To put this in to perspective, I'd done a medical certificate as part of a uni course, carried...

    S2 headunit on S1?

You heard wrong. Nobody has yet got a VE Series II head unit (i.e. iQ System) working in a Series I car. Upgrading a Series I from the base model to the Calais/SSV/HSV colour screen, however, that's entirely possible.
