Just bought a 2016 Calais wagon

Thanks heaps. It's booked for service in a week. I'll get all that done and checked. I'm reasonably handy, so I could clean the maf sensor and throttle body? Any vids on where and how? What do you lubricate the doors and hinges with? I've already replaced the cabin filter. It was the mesh...

Just bought a 2016 Calais wagon

It's got full service history in the book. Not sure what MAF sensor is but I'll google that. Even though it's not due for another 7000kms, I'm going to service it again, so I'll get them to check the things out you've suggested. Thanks so much.

Just bought a 2016 Calais wagon

Thanks for your reply @Ron Burgundy Yes, V6. Anything I can do about the tick? Replace that fuel pump? Somebody else suggested PCV valve? I've cleaned the engine bay by hand (wiping) and with air compressor. Even though "it was serviced".. I replaced the air filter which was the worst I've...

Somebody suggested the PCV valve may need to be replaced. Any comment on that?

What could the engine noise tick be and should I be worried?

Just bought a 2016 Calais wagon

Hi all, I today picked up a 2016 Calais wagon. 123,000kms. Excellent condition visually. I drove 3 hours to get home, and at idle it has a small engine tick. What could this be and should I be worried? Also, it was a country car so the engine bay is very, very, very dusty. How best do I clean...

Help putting SV6 door on my Evoke.

I upgraded from my 2014 VF to 2015 with lower kms. The rear driver side door had a few dings, and I accepted that I'd have to repair that somehow. My new car is an Evoke model. I found a wrecked SV6 with the door that I need, in exact colour of my car. I've installed the door, but after...

Noise at start - cam shaft actuator

It's got 77,xxx kms. It was last serviced at 70,000 kms using Penrite 5W30 oil. It's been making a version of the noise for about 15,000 kms. Gradually worsening over time.

Noise at start - cam shaft actuator

When I start my car it makes this noise. I recorded it and youtubed it to send to holden before I book it in. ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjHX5tvdeyg They said it's the cam shaft actuator. I'm dropping it off next week for a warranty repair. I just want to know how 'bad' it is and...

Calais front bar on VE Omega Series2 ?

You're right.. the cost is probably going to steer me away from this option. I found a Series II Calais bar - primed and ready to paint - $180 I haven't yet found the bottom insert, or the grill, or the driving lights - I think these would surely be over $300 in total. Probably too exy to take...

Calais front bar on VE Omega Series2 ?

Ok. Thanks. I'll swap them out down the track given they are so damn expensive.

Calais front bar on VE Omega Series2 ?

I'm looking to put a calais front bar on my 2012 VE Omega Series II. I'm pretty sure I need the bar and grill only. Am I correct that this will fit? Why? I just like the calais bar more than the omega bar and I get to install driving lights also. cheers

    Buying a 2011 VE

Thanks everyone.. and by comparison to my old 2008 3.6L, the new 2012 3.0L has equal amount of power. I read the other peoples posts, but I just can't tell that there's any difference behind the wheel. The gearbox seems to change smoothly. There's none of the reported change happy gearbox...

    Buying a 2011 VE

I'm confused. Is this the general concensus? I always thought that it was a dirty fuel that wasn't good for your car.. or is that only true for older vehicles. Mine might be made to run with that stuff? Should I be using Ethanol instead of Premium Unleaded? And should I stop using the fuel...

    Buying a 2011 VE

    Buying a 2011 VE

I ended up buying a 2012 MY12 6spd semi-auto 3.0L. It's SIDI and it's got Ethanol badge something or other on the boot. I'm guessing this means it'll be happy with that shitty ethanol fuel, but I'll be putting high octane proper fuel in it. A couple of questions... I used to put Fuel...

    Buying a 2011 VE

Are you saying that if I want an 2011 Omega that it only comes in a 3.0L anyway?
  23. JoeRogan

    Buying a 2011 VE

Ok cool. It's a 6 speed 3.0L (the one I'm looking at). Is that still better than the 2008 3.6L 4 speed that I had? Or would you still say to avoid the 3.0L. If so, why is the 3.0L a bad thing? It's an Omega that I'm eyeing.. not an SV6. I don't like the SV6's personally, so am intentionally...

    Buying a 2011 VE

Hi guys, thought I'd ask for some info on my upgrade. I've just sold my 2008 VE Sedan which was a 3.6L (I'm pretty sure). I'm looking to upgrade to 2011 and I see there's a couple of different ones out there. I have my eye on a 3.0L Aspirated (what does this mean?) with 6 speed sports...

    Touch up paint too thick

    Great idea. I'll do that!

    Touch up paint too thick

Nope nothing on the bottle at all. It's not metallic. The brush in the bottle is big. Maybe I should get a finer brush and use that. Is layers recommended? To fill up the chip hole or just once enough?

    Touch up paint too thick

I got a small tub of touch up paint when my whole car was resprayed for use on stone chips when/if I get them. I've got one, and I need to use it, but the paint is very thick and I can't apply it properly. How do I think it? Do I just add some thinners? What's the best method? many...

Installing HSV Senator subs and speakers in my Omega

Just an update - I installed one of the new rear speakers. I tested and unfortunately, the original speaker that was in there sounds better! I swapped it back, closed it up and now I have front and rear speakers for sale. Brand new. Unfortunately this was a waste of time. :(

Installing HSV Senator subs and speakers in my Omega

I might just do one of the rears, set it for rear speakers only, and see what the difference is.

Installing HSV Senator subs and speakers in my Omega

I reckon I could do these speakers myself but the amp may be a job for someone else. Unless I find a pretty comprehensive how-to somewhere for a VE sedan.

You reckon I'll get no enhancement huh. Well I guess I'll find out. They had to be done anyway. Head unit can come later if I need to.

I'd be interested in the results with your boot. Are you doing that to cut road noise into the cabin? ie not for car audio purposes

Thanks Waz. I might do the budget version and spend the 45 bucks. Sounds like it'll still help!

Installing HSV Senator subs and speakers in my Omega

Re dynamat, I'll look it up and consider it. I didn't really want to spend more than I already have though. I'd set out to do a budget audio upgrade. If the difference is HUGE though, it might be worth considering.
