This is what I was referring too... Using the zip ties in reverse (simply to avoid wasting them) to align the gasket and stop it from folding etc. You then screw 1 bolt in each corner only a few turns then remove the zip ties.

Problem fixed! Thanks to my Mrs!! The drive belt was on the wrong way. I put it on the correct way and now it runs fine!

Found the problem finally haha. Guy at work who did his apprenticeship with cars told me to pull out the ring around the barrel & check the connectors for the 2 metal tabs. Hey presto! one of them was disconnected. Connected it & all normal now!

So I pulled out the power steering rack and went down to the local power steering workshop to get an exchange rack. Installed the new one(must have turned the steering shaft while installing new rack). Tested movement of the steering wheel while the wheels were off and car on the stands...

Last night after work: replaced the rocker cover seals on the mrs new vt.

Yesterday. Replaced water pump and coolant thermostat on mrs new vt.

Finished flushing cooling system (removed LHS knock sensor to flush lowest point in cooling system). Started to fill with coolant while engine running & noticed coolant leak at water pump. Will have to have a better look next time to see if it is the shaft or gasket.

I just ran a wire from the reverse light wire under the side boot carpet, under rear seat, along scuff panels, under passenger front carpet, under glovebox, to the reverse wire on my head unit. Works perfectly when selecting reverse and deselecting reverse.

Yes correct. I guess that the other steering wheel control wire is for other cars that have phone controls as well as audio controls.

It depends what brand of radio for example my radio had an earth, "steering 1" & "steering 2" wires. I had to test the 2 steering wires with the red wire on the controls then set the buttons in the settings menu on the touch screen.

I've been busy wiring up my reverse camera and under-door SMD strips so I haven't had a chance to do any testing of the headlight wires. Hopefully this weekend I get a chance.

Just finished wiring reverse camera to radio and rewiring steering wheel controls to radio. Also fixed rear right led strip under door.

I'm guessing I just wire into the positive & negative of the circuit that goes to the reverse lights so that when the car is in reverse & the reverse lights come on, so does the camera?

Yesterday installed under-door SMD LED strips on all 4 doors. Wired into unlock/door open circuit.

Yeah man! I also read that they can't be flashing which may be why he didn't ask.

I got pulled over for my first time about a month ago (been on my P's for 2years) just for a license check and I also have blue number plate lights but he didn't say a single thing about it.

Nah just off the unlock/door open circuit. I have to fix the rear right strip as I blew 2 fuses this afternoon due to some of the strands of wire at one of the led strips coming loose and shorting on the other contact. I will post pics of my wiring when I get a chance.
