    nathans 4gen Liberty Wagon

Yeah it's a nice car, the Stagea they did was cool too. I'm so envious of all those guys and thier project cars. Definitely a lot of time and money involved though, as you would know, lol.

    nathans 4gen Liberty Wagon

Have you seen "Super Gramps", a Gen4 Liberty on Mighty Car Mods? They put a Suburu NA V6 in it and turboed it. Its about 260 awkw on about 7 psi, stock internals, running low 12s. Check it out if you havn't already.

    IQ System white screen

Thanks Pete. I was expecting it to be more. The screen hasnt played up for a few days now. Will keep an eye on it and see whwt happens.

    IQ System white screen

Hi Guys. I have a 2012 SV6 Series II. A few weeks ago the IQ system started to play up. About 50% of the time when I turn the ignition on or start the car the IQ screen is completely white. The only way to remedy the issue is to turn the car completely off and try again. Sometimes it works...

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Very happy you got it running again. It's awesome that it runs smoother than the old engine. Do you think that it might have been a pre-existing issue that caused the piston to smash?

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Just read the news. That's some bad luck right there. The tonner just hit 195,000km, might be a bad omen lol. I've had the charger on for about 40,000km though, so she's holding up alright. The only time I've hit the limiter in the auto is at the top of 3rd at 190km/h when I was testing the new...

    Vu Throttle body issue

Did you get a tune from Mace to suit it? If you didn't it will cause all sorts of issues.

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

This is unrelated, but have you considered getting a cold air intake box like the one I have from mace? It can make a big difference in the warmer months when not using an intercooler. Even with an intercooler it makes a difference. Low intake temps are sexy.

I had a fealing that would fix the problem! Yay I helped someone! Looks and sounds the goods mate, well done.

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Just out of interest Tim, why did I need that restrictor? What causes the problem?
  15. vy1tonnerbloke

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

That sounds identical to the problem I had. I'd be asking Tim about it.
  16. vy1tonnerbloke

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak or something? When I installed my charger the Ute was stalling after I lifted off the throttle. Tim set me up with a restrictor that goes in the big rubber tubing that goes from the BOV back to the intake pipe. Fixed the issue straight away. It's almost...

Raspy noise from V6 when cold

Yeah it actually really does....maybe that's all it is?

Raspy noise from V6 when cold

With 474,000 km one would expect things to be getting pretty loose inside the old girl. If you fix one thing it won't be long before something else breaks, surely. Time for an upgrade?

/// Trayners VZ S One Tonner

Tonner is longer wheel base, the same as the crewman actually. But you could be right about splitting the shaft. Something for me to look into.

/// Trayners VZ S One Tonner

I wish my tonner was a manual, but the VY V6 tonners only came out in auto. A bit of a bummer really. I've thought about a getrag conversion but thought I might run into trouble with the tail shaft length.

/// Trayners VZ S One Tonner

If it has heaps of bounce in the rear maybe the shocks are stuffed. Lowering it with blocks won't take the bounce out, and using aftermarket leafs will probably make it too stiff.

    VY Charged Tonner

I lowered it with super low king spring leafs. I really need to update this thread. Ute is now a full time work Ute as I have started my own plumbing business. Its back up to original height now as it was undrivable as a tradie Ute in it's lowered state. The king spring leafs were very stiff, so...

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

In regard to the fuel usage. I wouldn't trust what the dash readout says. With the bigger injectors it will use more fuel, and it won't give you the correct usage rate on the display. Regarding the paint on the plenum, I think it was VHT heatproof stuff, but can't be sure.

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

This is my engine bay just to show you what the plenum lid looks like painted black. Tim uses it as the image for the VT-VY charger on the website. Raptor Superchargers

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Instead of polishing the plenum lid maybe think about painting it. I painted mine gloss black. I reckon it looks pretty smart.

The best thing about Raptor is the customer support. If you have ANY questions at all, just email or call Tim. I've emailed him at 9pm and had a response in 5 minutes. He is very dedicated, and a top bloke!

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

I'd say in the low to mid range revs (2000-4000), intercooled is noticeably stronger, but above that it's pretty close. That's just my take on it. Other guys with raptors may say otherwise.

/// Trayners VZ S One Tonner

Looks to be in good nick. Most of the other tonners I see around are pretty beat up.
  32. vy1tonnerbloke

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

Non intercooled I'd say it was on par or maybe slightly stronger in cool weather, but in the summer time intercooled is stronger I'd say, especially low in the rev range.
  33. vy1tonnerbloke

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

I'm running intercooled with the 12 psi pulley and the billet impeller. Getting around 12 psi at the top of first gear. The Ute is now my work vehicle, so has 2 ladders, 2 big steel tool boxes and a heap of tools and gear on it at all times. It still pulls fairly hard considering. It could pull...

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

It runs great. It would be a lot more fun as a manual though. You're lucky in that regard. I think you'll be happy with it.

    2004 VY S Manual Sedan!

It will run fine. Mine has been fine when the charger is off getting serviced.

    Corvette Z06 vs Nizmozilla GTR?

I remember the C6 ZR1 could do over 100kph in 1st gear. It had immense torque from the supercharged engine though. I think if they shortened the gearing it would have immense traction problem. Maybe they just did it to give the ZR1 and the new Z06 an impressive 0-100 time with minimum traction...

    513rwkw V6

It does seem like the intake path of the V6 is a topsy turvy rollercoaster ride when compared to the more direct I6.
