Hi Guys. Looking at fitting a VY K frame into my VU Maloo. So I can get the camber arms, I've got the option on a sedan one from a V6, but I've been reading a few threads and people saying the suspension mounts are different on the sedans/wagons/utes? So is this conversion even possible? Cheers

Can somebody tell me if the VY Maloo tonneau cover will fit my VU Maloo? I've read somewhere the sailplanes are different

apologies for the thread dig, anybody have an idea where i can source a VU maloo tonneau cover? I'm wondering if i purchase a standard VU one and have it modified by a canvas outfit? Not even sure how they work on these things, having just moved up from my VS ute

I was considering trying to also use the VT loom, it's more about getting the different shaped dash to fit in the VS window. I assume all the dash mounting points are different being a totally different car

Yeah not really an option, my dash is tired and i want to fit a VT engine and gearbox and have a dash that matches.

Thanks for the responses guys! Earths are something I haven't looked into in depth, I do know the +ve feed out the alternator is nice and health looking at the alt end, looking at any more of it might not be so easy though. Why the fluck did they put it down there? I miss my 304, so much easier...

Ok so I'm pretty sure I've read nearly every thread on here about this problem. Time to start my own. I've had the system from my Monaro fitted to my replacement VY wagon, Pioneer Amp, Infinity 4ch amp and speakers. Worked great in the Munt-ro but now I have the dreaded whine. It's been back...

So to update/give this thread some closure; I've now got a VY V8 wagon in metallic snot green. I'm the third owner with the first two being from the same family. 210k's and 7grand is a much better deal. It's an auto which I think is arse, but the Dragon likes. Fitting low springs and new shocks...

So after doing some digging i've discovered the wagon was an insurance write off back in 2009, from photos i've seen it appears to have had damage to the pillars. Considering the K's are 236,000 and he still wants $14000 i'm pretty well ready to walk away.

I've still not driven the 6L engine. It's even harder to find a wagon with one of those engines... let alone a manual. I've made this bloke a counter offer, just need him to come to the party now.

Sound pretty reasonable when you put it into context. I had done the valley gaskets and the water pump on the 304 at 220k, Diff maybe at 210, and replaced the fusable link at a similar time. The worst thing about that old girl was the interior that was falling apart, oh and the heater core...

weird because he's listed it as a 2005 VY series 2, from what i can see they didn't make the series 2 until 2006

Guess I'm not sold on them, two kids, wife and two doors, that gets old. I find myself driving my VS 304 ute more, I totally loved my VT, the Monaro I don't think I'm going to miss when it's gone.

Thanks for that, realised I've posted this in the wrong place... VY in the VX section... But the reality is although the Monaro is going to hold it's value, it doesn't suit the needs of the family, it also doesn't excite me like the old VT clubbie I had before it. The 195 iron motor sounded...

Looking for some opinions I'm getting out of my 2002 CV8 and considering a 2005 SS VY S2 manual Wagon What should I be looking for? Any comments from owners? I know it's not going to handle the same, it's basically the same LS1? What to look out for? Cheers

There wasn't enough oil to make it worthwhile. It's been filled with correct oil and GM additive

Sadly I might have to suck it up and pay to have it rebuilt. Hate to think what that's gonna cost

It seems to be most noticeable at low speed, the road noise in the cabin kinda cancels it out over about 60kph. The noise is no worse when turning, but i haven't tried a CV type turning test with tight corners. It's not overly loud, but there's something there, more noticeable on smooth roads...

the old diff ran pretty quietly, once the backlash clunk had happened there were no other noises going on. I reckon what i'm hearing must be coming from the replcement unit. Couldn't feel any play in any of the external parts when i fitted it, but there's still stuff inside there that could be...

I'm looking at replacing the stereo in my 2002 CV8 Monaro, can somebody please clarify a few things for me. What's this about the rear 2 sets of speakers running at 2ohms? From what i can find it looks as if the rear seat speakers and the rear parcel shelf speakers are running at 2 ohms...

ahhh, delcowizzard to the rescue... so the VR computer i brought is no use to me, i still need a VATS deleted memcal?

well i put a Chinese dizzy in it today, such a nasty looking bit of kit compared to the Bosch and it didn't go... then i put the original computer in there and it fired straight away. So i'm thinking my converted V6 memcal has had the VATS deleted. I was expecting it to work with that standard...

yep fuel pump is running, no fault codes, only ever get code 12 outta it. Turns over sweet, but i can't drive it home on the starter motor...
