    VE SS harmonic balancer

Replaced mine at 110,000km, so far only punched out another 5000 so all is good. If I were you, I wouldn't go back to that dealer, shoddy at best by the sounds.

    Whistling/whiring alternator

So Im guessing that if I went and got another one thee is every darn chance the new one could do it too?

    Diff question

Yeh that's what I keep reading, more punch. Most say a gear swap/diff swap is the best mod they ever made in terms of performance gains when driving. As I use the car as a daily drive, I want to keep it fairly stock and reliable, yet still have a bit more get up and go. $1800 is steep though.

    Whistling/whiring alternator

You never got one fixed? It seams everything I can find points to the alternator fix, just want to be sure. Anyone else had this issue and got it fixed, was it the alternator?

    Whistling/whiring alternator

It's not the belt, have tested that by adding water to the belt when starting, it seams it's quite common on the VE V8's as I have searched it on the forum. I would love to know how others have fixed it though.

    Whistling/whiring alternator

Hi all, I have a 07 VE SS 6.0 with the L98, when i start it it whistles for a while, about 30sec or more. From what i could find it seams common and the alternator is the culprit. So is there a better alternator? or is it simply just a matter of changing to a new one? I'm really sick to...

    Diff question

Hey guys, I have a VE SS 6.0 07 auto model, I know the diff is a 2.89 and manual is 3.45, but does my diff still have limited slip? Is it better to change the whole diff or just the gears if I wanted 3.45 ratio? Thanks in advance

How do I remove the wheel Hub with the wheel still attached?

I agree with IBLOWN......gonna have to drill it out, even if you can get the wheel off by undoing the hub, you still gotta drill it out

How do I remove the wheel Hub with the wheel still attached?

Frig its been ages since I did a hub renewal. But from memory, and this was on a 05 VZ mind you (they look similar though) you could theoretically get the hub off with the wheel attached. Take the brake off by undoing the 2 bolts holding the caliper mounting bracket, wire the whole thing up and...

    Brake trouble

Yeh I'm fairly unimpressed about Pedders apparent Tech Inspection. I did explain to them that I did the brakes myself to save coin etc, and they insisted it was the callipers. Bloody hell, cost me $500 bucks to recondition both fronts. As it turns out it was just the pads, I'm still happy with...

    Brake trouble

I put them on with outer pads in, and inner pads out.......wow, that feeling of elation being balanced out by complete stupidity...lol  :hit: So a big thank you fellas, you guys are awesome.

    Brake trouble

I did notice some pins on the pads themselves, maybe I did get them round the wrong way. However they had clearance, no force was used to get them back on. I did use a calliper tool to push the pistons right back though. The rotors are not catching on anything, the pads are just staying pressed...

    Brake trouble

I own a VE SS 07 6.0 that I bought a few months back. It needed new brake pads and rotors so I went out and purchased myself a set of 4 brake rotors from DBA, the T2s and some bendix CT pads. I also got new brake fluid (dot 4) and decided to do the brakes myself. I have done this job before on...

Hi, is my VE SS 08 a write off!?

eash, looks bad, glad your ok, but not sure if it would be a write off. My sister in-law smashed their jeep and it looked similar but got repaired. Be interesting to see what happens.

    I need help asap!!!

Start the car and look at the harmonic balancer, is it wobbly? It should be smooth, no wobble. The squeak you have may be the belt rubbing on the sides of the other pulleys as the wobble induces a loose than tight pull on the belt etc In any case, if it's bad don't drive it around.

    Detailing Tips & Tricks....

How does everyone go with cleaning the engine bay? Can I pressure clean it? Or should I use some degrease or some other product? It was obviously cleaned before I bought the car (VZ) and I want to keep it looking good. Any advice appreciated as I don't want to cause a problem with electrics...

    Roof condensation

That is normal, when the roof lining gets put back on it will insulate against this happening. Condensation forms on any cold metal surface because heat is transferred from water vapour in the air, which warms the surface and cools the vapor causing water formation (condensation) on the cold...

    srs airbag fault warning

Well I went to the local auto electrician and he had to attach a device that reads all the engine management data etc. It turns out that it was the coffee I spilt, it hit the wires and caused a battery disconnection/circuit break and made the SRS airbag fault come on. He double checked the...

    srs airbag fault warning

I recently purchased my VZ executive and have enjoyed the car thus far, I bought a nice set of speedy rims and potenza tyres for it and gave it a good detail etc. Anyway, I was driving home last night from work and bought a coffee, I put the coffee in the holder but must of pressed down a bit...
