Must have started clear coating solid colours with the VZ then. Been a while since I came across that info so memory is sketchy. Plenty of VZ/VE's around with schmick looking red paint. As they say red cars are faster!
Red fading is no longer a problem. From VY onwards they have a clear coat painted on top. Prior to VY they didn't have a clear coat on solid colours only on metallic colours hence the red cars fading early.
For $70K you can get a brand new LSA, you guys are crazy paying that much for a LS3. Buy this instead https://www.carsales.com.au/bncis/details/Holden-Special-Vehicles-Clubsport-2016/OAG-AD-12773134/?Cr=5
So how does Holden get away with removing the plate when they fit the Walkinshaw packs at the dealership. AFAIK the Walky exhaust doesn't fit unless you remove the plate.
Quite possible you got air in the system after replacing the radiator and coolant. If not maybe your water pump is stuffed, what caused the radiator to fail?
A few years ago I remember reading on one of the other forums some owners reporting the H&R Bilstein Coilover combo failing early, put me off getting a set.
Just replace with aftermarket rotors and pads which are better any way and much cheaper, you'd have to be a numpty to let Holden supply you the brakes.
If I remember correctly more of a "kiss" or "merge" pipe than an X pipe. I read about the pros and cons of each a while back so have forgotten most of it by now.
Thanks bigjim92, was always under the impression the original Walky exhausts and earlier Harrop exhausts were one in the same.
Going by the last pic it is interesting that HM have somewhat copied Di Filippo's design with the long hotdog mid section.
I do all my oil changes myself and I fill it to 3/4 on the dipstick because when I check it the next morning it registers full or just over on the dipstick. In saying that when I first got the car brand new it was overfilled by a few mm and if you read the manual it says to check oil level when...
That is a possibility also, I know a few mechanics that work at stealerships and have told me some of the apprentices steal the oil filters themselves for when they do backyarders. They usually only steal the oil/air filters from fleet cars as the owner wouldn't check if the filters were changed...
Overfilling happens all too often because they fail to drain all of the oil ie: they rush it or drain from a cold engine. All the dealers have oil off the tap so to speak and each hose has a dial/counter they set it to 7.6 litres for a V8 or the specific amount for whatever car they are...
Even with identical manual gearboxes some are noisier than others (manufacturing tolerances) usually not a problem if it's not that loud, its just gearbox rollover noise.
Do a Google search on T56/TR6060 gearbox rollover noise, quite common.
I personally don't like raspy sounding exhausts also, they sound not bad at low revs but once you get above 4500 rpm they sound crap, at those revs they lose that distinct V8 sound and just sound like an ecotec V6 screaming its tits off.
Cheapest sedan 2015 build is 65K, not many wagons on offer hence the price discrepancy.
Cheapest wagon is 73K, 10% off brings it to 66K, you could get it transported interstate or get a dealer in NSW to match the price.
It is not that much of a difference, the 304 kw is 309 kw using HSV's method. The extra 8 kw to get it to 317 kw comes from the HSV headers. 325 kw is a result of 2.5 mid pipe and bi-modal mufflers. 340 kw comes from revised headers and bi modal air intake.
Mate I would get a second opinion from a mechanic. There are also a few threads on here about the timing chain it's quite common on early VE's, do a search on the forum plenty of info on the topic.
I would take an extra 44 kw and 57 nm, revised (HSV) diff gears, 6600 rpm cutout, LS3 soundtrack, rear brembo's, revised suspension and bi-modal exhaust over the DVD player any day of the week.
Without a tune it really is a slushbox, finding someone who has perfected the art of tuning an auto is another problem all together, as a lot of them haven't a clue.
Replace the shocks with Monroe GT Gas and use original springs. If you want to lower it which won't be as comfortable you will need short-stroke shocks such as Monroe GT Sports, you can buy these with Kings lowered springs as a package for about $600-$800 check ebay.
I think it should read more like, WOW, Mikey has spent $4700 on a system that is worth $2300, only because of misinformation provided by your good self.
I reckon your crazy, the Walky is one of the better sounding exhausts, I would return the extractors and get the Walky(HM) ones to suit your catback. I'm sure NAAF wouldn't mind giving you a refund in light of what happened.
