I think you'll find that nost people beleive that each company has its specialty - some make good HUs, others speakers, and others amps. Also, it is quite subjective - one persons best may differ from another persons.

Personally but:
Subs: Kicker i love the sq look and the amount of power and boy do they kick
Speakers: Alpine im not sure why i like the way they sound
Amps: Not really sure but like the look of alpines
HU's: Either soney or alpine

well thats my choices ill probally get abused about my choices lol :hit:

These guys are right, pretty good alround these days.
Personally i run all pioneer, i know it's not the best but quality is still good for the bucks.
HU: DEH5750
Speakers: Splits in front door, 6" 220w in the back door, 6*9 in the parcel shelf
Amp: 300watt 2 channel running the 6*9
No subs as yet, i've never bought them so i don't know what's good or not.

HU: pioneer
amps: JBL/jaycar response
sub: eclipse
speakers: JBL

I'm also a Pioneer all the way, if you stay away from the cheap end and stick to the upper priced items they are all quality.

If I had to choose other brands I would say;

Nakamachi has it's merits, thier headunits pack a whallop.
Blaupunkt also make some ok gear although it can be pricey and most functions (XM radio etc) don't work in Australia.
Fusion are getting better with their subwoofers although they still don't have it right.
Alpine make some very good Headunits but not really my first choice.
Phoenix Gold make some unbelievable subwoofers especially thier 15's.
Focal make extremely good speakers but the prices are also a little on the high side.

That's just a short list though.

JL has my vote once again, dunno bout their headunits but their subs go off their fcukin nut, especially for tha price. ive known some JL's to come rather high in SPL comps. and they are real good quality and wont fcuk up if they get a thrashen unlike most other brands. and they really PACK-A-PUNCH.

i vote pioneer all the way, not sure why, but i think they look the best, i cant stand xplodes, they are too funky for me. kenwood is the oposite, really plain and boring.
