Re-gapping plugs this day and age isn't really necessary, unless you've been given the wrong plugs to begin with and you are absolutely certain that they need to be gapped. In all honesty playing around with plug gaps can cause more hassles then its worth.
I'd start:
1. Fuel pressure test.
2. Compression test
