Gday guys, I've got a problem with my Calais and I'm not entirely sure how to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue. That is I don't know whats causing what happens.

Whenever I'm cruising on the freeway, or if I'm about to get off the on ramp onto the freeway and doing between 80-90km/h, and lets say I want to speed upto 100 quickly, I put my foot down and I'm guessing it downshifts to get higher revs. Basics of mechanics? I'm really not very technically minded, so you'll have to pardon me there. Anyway when it downshifts the car stutters? Like I feel some feedback coming out of the gearbox? or the clutch? Not too sure. But you feel it in the whole car, like a very short jolt that happens 4-5 times before the car speeds up.

I've got no clue about what's doing it, and I'm not entirely too sure whom to go to with the issue seeing as I would like to get it fixed.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Or could diagnose it?

EDIT: I've tried looking through the previous threads regarding gearboxes, but I couldn't find anything similar to what's going on with mine.

Is it a manual? If so it shouldn't rev higher or downshift per se, the clutch locks engine rpm to the gearbox, if it revs freely up without actually accelerating then that sounds like the clutch is slipping. Try it in another gear.

Sounds like a tailshaft coupling has shagged or could be a uni.

Well there's no clutch as such, best place would be to take it to an auto trans specialist and take them for a drive, they will be able to help diagnose it.

Could also be a missfire, but yea take it to a mechanic for diagnosis.

Mechanic said my gearbox mount is shot and sitting very low. So we were going to replace that and see if that fixes it up.
That would've happened if this didnt.

Now it's just a matter of time to get it fixed and then we move on from there.
