Gidday I'm picking up an 09 VE 3.6 ex cop car that's been "chipped" tomorrow (New car for the Mrs) I got it cheap $2200, because it's only got 1st and 2nd (auto trans) any ideas on a fix for this?
Doesn't the 09 have the 6spd and 3.0L engine? (I could be wrong though)

Weren't there 3 or 4 different options by then? 3.0, 3.6, 3.6 high output etc?

Generally speaking there aren’t normally easy fixes for automatic transmissions, especially if some gears aren’t working at all. As it’s got the 5 speed 5L40E transmission in it a rebuild won’t be cheap.
Oooff. I know that well. We had ours done after a box of neutrals became a feature. That lasted 18mths. Company gone.

Those gearboxes cost us close to $10k in two years.

He’s been told to stay with what is original on the vehicle.
Change over box, and as this was last week I guess it’s all done now and OP is back on the road.

So it's an 2008 3.6 4 speed

Your best option is get quotes to have the gearbox rebuilt....But what ever you do, DO NOT mention it has the infamous cop chip, as they will charge you more for the privilege of owning such a rare car with such a rare item
