Trans service isn't rocket science, needs for be correct fluid Dex6 or equivalent and correct level. Will generally take 4.5-5litres after a pan drop and filter change.

They either have failed at removing the seal that may be in the trans pickup (it's easy to just pull the filter and whack the next one on ignoring the fact that the rubber seal may still be in the pickup), or can't get the fluid level right. To get the fluid level right it has to be in the air, level and idling in park within a specific temperature range (50-70 degrees if I recall).

Don't keep driving it like that, symptoms suggest that there's insufficient fluid being circulated in the box. Can and will lunch itself if you keep driving it.

Mechanic has been looking at it, I don’t know what he has been doing, but it does feel better, but not how it was before

Sorry to hear it's not 100%

I'd expect a car should drive better out of a mechanics workshop after being serviced than when you drove it in to get serviced.

He says he is gradually adjusting it, it’s been back in his shop mon/tues/wed
Each morning I take it for a drive I can still feel the jerking
yesterday I pulled up to a pedestrian crossing, waited, then when I go to move it does with a jerk, like when I stopped something in the car grabbed hold of something then let it go, it’s no longer a smooth movement to drive forward.
It feels like the car doesn’t want to move then bang it does, all within seconds.

Mon-Friday it’s driven more in the morning, going for a drive before I go to work, so it’s felt more when car is warming up, if I leave it with mechanic all day then drive around for a bit afterwards it not as noticeable even feels like it’s fixed, until the next morning.

As others have stated it’s all in the type of oil and the procedures for topping up etc etc ,I’d be asking what type of oil he is putting in there as they can be temperamental if not done correctly eg temp of oil box etc etc ,good luck however I would be taking to a trans specialist or back to Holden next time, even though the 150k service is expensive with Holden at least you will still be covered by the Holden warranty etc

From what you are discribing (exalerate then it grabbing), a tourq converter does have the ability to do exactly that and will be more noticable with clean fluid, also a cold start or in power mode if your car has a transmission feature button, or some tourq converters can be more complex. Adjustments can be made within the computer via tech 2 scan tool to adjust shift timing etc for example. Hope this helps you understand some basic info.

Tech 2 isn't used on VF and shift timing is not adjustable.
