i have recently put a high comp 186 head on my blue 202 block,
i now have a boiling problem im pretty sure. i drove the car for almost 100 metres yesterday and the temp gauge went rose to half way so i took it back home and let it cool down i have no idea why?
since the conversion my battery light is staying on and most of the dash is not working when i first drove it after putting the head on i heard a click behind the dash and the light came on? i have changed the regulator on the altinator but didnt change anything?

thanks for that, when i put the head on on drilled the holes in the head so they match up, but there isent a hole at the end of the block so i didnt drill one there but im thinking it might be boiling there

you got rid of a 12 port head and put 9 port head on with smaller valves?
what carby you using? mabe a blown fuse from a wire not used earthing out somewhere.
Did you have to redrill the block? If the alternator charge light dont work the alternator wont charge

i put a reco 186 head on with bigger valves and port work with a ww stromberg carb, extractors and a cain inlet manifold, yea i thought so to but everything looks alright, but after a few days with a immobilser shouldnt the battery be dead if the altinator is dead?? ive been told it may be a voltage stabiliser behind the dash ?
i didnt redrill the block at all?

I cant remember but there is a difference with the water jackets between red & blue/black, one will be blocked and causing it. I'd say you'll have to take the head of to compare what the difference is, even the head gaskets will be different to......
