Holden VE Calais
At the Holden vs Ford show this weekend (just gone), Eddy Tassones VZ Commodore Ute made 1899rwhp, which is a new world record. The car has a 383 stroker V8 (based on the old Holden 5.0L block) with twin turbos, custom cam and manifold using 40psi and C16 fuel. Apparently they backed off before the redline because the engine was leaning out due to the fact it was not tuned properly (they only put the engine together the day before the event), so it only revved to 6500rpm, and the Dyno graph indicates it will keep going. Summernats, here we come. The Dyno sheet below was taken after the second run, the third run was 1898.9rwhp.

That figure was actually incorrect due to a faulty Intake Temp sensor which can be seen on the dyno sheet. IT figure is 230 degrees which causes a much higher HP reading to be shown.

"In the end it was revealed that the inlet air temperature indication was very high – thus raising the dynos’ power calculation. An examination of the results by the software techs at Dyno Dynamics revealed that the final run might not have been a world record but would almost certainly have eclipsed the national competition record by a substantial margin."

Quote taken from Dyno Dynamics website.

Still an awesome achievement by Eddie Tassone.

The engine out of the VH had a cracked block, this is a new block but most likely has donor parts from the original engine.
