TIDYVH is using a VL/VK spec one.

The standard VH one looks like this:

So...the car is nearly ready to go on the road...and i was looking at the engine bay the other day while waiting for gasket **** to dry...

I took a few shortcuts to get the car on the road quicker. I hate myself for it. I think im going to start over with the engine bay once i've had the car on the road for a while. Leave the motor in, cover it completely, buy a compressor, get some paint and reputty the towers, fill little nick's that i've made by being careless with spanners and stuff in frustration. ####. Seriously unhappy with myself and quite ashamed. I was proud when i first did it, but now looking back on my quality of work, my skill level has gone up, and so have my expectations and the **** i did at the start isnt cutting it.

Might aswell spray the whole car the original colour again while im at it. Bah. Does it ever end?

no... no it doesnt. unless your one of the silly people who do it right the first time, but then you will never want to drive it for fear of breaking something.

my vote is for taking the engine out to redo it. i know it sounds like more work, it really is less. K-frame out with everything attached to it, brakes etc out, wiring out, clean up empty engine bay. itll make prepping it less work, sanding it back less work and respraying with a proper gun (and air hose, which would be impossible to do if the engine was in) less work and finishing less work. then you can clean all the acc hoses etc and redo wiring. all up itll take 3 weeks of slow pace and you will be over the moon with the result

at least thats how i did the VK's engine bay. knocked it over in 4 days. friday, sat, sun, and monday was driving home.

Had a bit of a mess around last night. Car doesnt have a handbrake so bit cautious about putting it in D and just chocking the wheels so have been shifting from N to D with foot on the brake. Can get the vaccum up to 12 in P/N and it drops to 8 in drive. I then put it back to P, lean out mixtures, get back in, shift to D, listening for any changes, muddyness etc.

So in other words..not much. :(

lol, my VK hasnt had a handbrake for years. dont stress. put a block of wood between the seat and the brake then slide the seat forward. slip it in D. all readings must be taken in D.

funy story about D. i forget it was in drive once, got in the habbit of turning the mixtures then tweaking the throttle to even out the vac reading. forgot. gave it a full on rev, rear wheels lit up, tail kicked out, threw me to the ground and nearly ran me over...

I think i've worked out what that hole in the carby was for...it's there to provide vaccum for the secondary powervalve. But, because im not running a powervalve, then blocking the hole up wasnt a big problem.
