1986 VL calais turbo project

Well im back after a couple of years out of a VL. Picked up this n/a calais for $600 from a bloke who was wrecking it for parts. Shes been sitting out in the weather since 2010 and has a lot of rust. Its going to be a long,slow, EXPENSIVE project and my 4th and hopefully last VL.
The plans:

*Cut rust, weld
*Collect all missing original calais exterior and interior parts
*Paint
*Turbo
*Rego
*Weekend car to live in the garage for the majority of its life

When i got it

In its new house

Interior of whats left, good condition needs a good clean

Prepping for rust cutting. Havent pulled the front screen yet but there is no visual rust around the screen so hopefully wont be as big of a job as the back end

Door moulds, lower door moulds, and side skirts

Power window switches and mechanisms, and rust free calais boot lid next week

Why would someone neglect and part out such a beautiful car?
well done for saving it; I can see potential. I will be very happy to see what becomes of this.

After viewing the links in your sig, it is becoming apparent.

I'm sure you know VL's like the back's of your hands now (or they have at least taken a few chunks of skin/blood as sacrifice)

yea lol i drove them from when i was 16 untill i was 23 so i know them quite well... Good thing is now that this car wont be a daily driver, more of a toy and i have no time frame so i can do everything the expensive and proper way instead of dodgy slap jobs like my old ones
