I have read many threads with same problem. We have done both new pumps and noticed the broken return fuel line inside tank.
But didn't measure size of hose we will need. Does anyone know the size of the return fuel line I will need to get. Car is at shop and I am running to get the parts. But the tank was put back without replacing that hose and it won't start. Does start when using starting fluid. Size of hose please, I know I need to get submersible fuel hose, ofcourse.
Cheers

I didn't think the flexible line inside the tank was used until VR and later ?

On the VR and VS fixes I have done, all were 5/16"

The vn i have has the in tank lift pump with only 1 outlet on the sender unit. Then inside the tank the fuel return line connects to the venturi fitting on the bottom of the swirl pot to the external tank side via a snap on fitting i think they call it( to the left of the fuel sender unit) then the external fuel pump of course pumps too the front. Its the 80 litre tank and I'm sure factory

Thanks Wateva , think I will buy some 5/16 th size submersible fuel hose. Called a few dealers 1 helpful, 1 was not. 1 guy was able to give me part numbers which now of course is discontinued.

I normally just buy it by the metre.

good luck finding the hose, I usually need 3-4 places before I find any now. I used to be able to buy it by the metre at Repco, but they have switched to short prepackaged lengths only as well now.

UPDATE; pulled the tank out again today. Had a slow drip from the return fuel hose attachment (external connection, see pics)
I am thinking to weld up the problematic connection as I can see it has been fixed before. And run a vp or vr sender unit with the return fuel line on the same set-up, returns fuel straight into the swirl pot. Rather than open the tank to try reconnect the venturi fitting and hose to the external fuel return connection. This is almost impossible unless you want to open and re weld tank.
