How many times has a bloke changed the fuel pump on an old commodore then the fuel guage doesn't work. $450 for a Refurbished fuel sender unit. Half of the reconditioned parts Ive brought in my life were rooted with in a year. I bet that bloke has a lot of people hating on him after 2 or 3 years.

It happened to me once. I was cursing, but it started working a day later. I can only speculate some gum in stale petrol had dried out on the contacts and rubbed off with a bit of movement.
