Hi Guys, Would this car have the 59 litre tank or the 73 litre tank fitted And is there any way to tell from looking at it Thanks
Generally, V6 = 59ltr and V8 = 73ltr what size engine is the calais? and if you really wanna be sure, let the car run till the fuel light comes on, then put 27ltrs in it.... (Litres... NOT dollars) if it sits around half on the gauge, then its a 59ltr... if it sits about 1/3 up the gauge... 73ltr tank.
Its a V6 I had to put another dash in it as the original one had lost its bottom LCD display so there was no KMS reading I noticed the original one was set on 80 litres on the fuel gauge switch on the back of the dash. But the other day the fuel tank was just about empty and i could only get 58 litres into it :bang:
Look for plastic tank guard! The fuel tanks in the VS are the same as earlier Commodores. However, the specification reduced the quantities to those that can reasonably be held. To fit 63.6L (14 imperial gallons) into a small tank takes hours (poetic licence) of drip feed, and is not recommended as fuel can flow back into the charcoal canister if the car then sits in the sun. Thus the old 63.6L tank is listed as 59L and the old 80L tank as 73. The long range tank sits lower, and so is fitted with a plastic stone guard. That is usually the best way of being sure other than draining the fuel and seeing how much is required to fill it up. Being a V6, it is almost certainly a 59L tank, though the long range tank was an option on the VS.
If the tank is from a VS with a V6 ecotec motor it had a 59L tank. If it had the supercharged 6 or V8 it had a 73L tank.
being a calais wouldn't it have the long range tank standard? ( a mate of mine has a VS Calais V6 with it. )
wouldnt u just wait til its almost empty then fill it up and see at the petrol bowser how much fuel went in?
but they had the problem that the gauge could have been wrong, showing its almost empty and it may have had 20lts get the VIN number, ring holden n ask they'll tell u straight up
It certainly does have the ecotec motor, makes me think that it may have been changed at some point now.
I left it on 60 Litres and when the gauge showed nearly empty without the low fuel light coming on i filled her up and it took only 51 litres Low fuel light gives you 8 litres left So i think its a 60 litre tank :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
