Only have my iPhone and finding it hard to search through threads on this. Wanting to do the 2 hole mod or commonly known bunnings cai. Thinking of going one hole In the side of lower airbox with pipe running down into the gap in my front end. Then the other from bottom front airbox to behind the headlight. Does anyone have pics, or ways to best go about this? Pipes to use and sizes and what to do for behind the headlight? While I'm there wanting to do a 4"intake. Any suggestions or links on this would be great too. Thanks guys.

    cheaper and more effective...

by pod filter that fits end of Air Flow Meter

take Intake air temperature sensor ffrom airbox

use METAL WASHER from Intake air temp sensor (IATS) to find size of hole needed for drill bit

drill the END of the pod filter out stick IATS through hole

put metal washer over IATS (as it was in old air box)

fit pod filter and afm to car

    plug it in

enjoy about 1-3kw increase (3 with extractors and standard tune... (engine used for this check was old and shitty))

recommend this rarther than running conduit form the WET road surface(rain=water up pipe) to you air box....

just an opinion many will have others

note without a custom tune the peak air flow (within standard tune) is minimal(extra ??cfm is <size of idle air control valve and NO air filter) and it will choke the air at valves and throttle body and afm and exhaust etc.... so too BIG is pointless....

It's an l67 so will force the cold air in, it has a k&n panel fitted. A pod filter in engine bay will cause too much hot air going in from the engine bay. You would have to be driving in a big arse puddle for water to travel that amount of distance as the pipe runs downwards from the air box. Was thinking some mesh over the front to stop bugs though. The Otr fitted sucks a crap load in and have to empty them out every couple of weeks.

What do you reckon about the enclosed box behind the headlight. Like the aftermarket ones?

i have one on my clubby, i guess its standard on vx hsv's as ive seen a few at drags with pass front light missing. which is different to other gen 3's which have an air inlet in the fender. i guess its allright it looks stock and works well its gotta be alot better than a pick up on the bottom of the bumper.

Yeah, does it pick up much cold air there? Wanting it running a bit cooler under the bonnet and the Otr seems to be doing crap all except bug catching. Know I need manifold heat shields to stop the heat rising in there so I'd rather spend money on them and have a go at a cai. I know there's no real gain kw wise but the car likes the colder air so just want it as much as possible.

water enters the pipe in mist and steam... thats how it randomly got wet (worse in wet rain lol)

those boxes are awesome, cause they catch all up draft that travel around for the bumper
(like blowing candle out around a glass) and the distance is the same as standard generally eliminating the water effect.

Yeah, I'm going one or of them. They look tidy too. What is the design of the mace ones? Is it a full enclosed box except at the front or does it cover the side and back with a lid? Are they just plastic sheets or made of something else?

It's aluminium sheeting. Seen a step by step thread on installing the mace setup and thought I'd just do it myself. Judging by the mace pics. It's pretty close. Would have liked a thicker alluminium but had a ball making it. Hardest part was making a cardboard template. To work off. Once transferred onto the sheeting. Came up a treat. Couple more tweaks. Covering small gaps, a paint and installing the 4" intake pipe I got today. Will be happy. For $50 I think did alright. The Whine in the supercharger Is just unreal ;)

Oh aluminum, and the cardboard template would make it so much easier, I've got some sheet stainless steel sitting around so i might give that a go when i get around to it.

Took a couple of hours of playing around with cardboard and about an hour cutting and bending the sheet and fixing it to the engine bay, hooking back up the sensors and the pod
