its all about the power of the subs too, you said you have 1200rms and your mate has 2 x 700rms, already hes pumping out 1400rms which is 200 more than you.

You need to learn a little bit more about speakers. They all have different efficiencies. So one might take 400W and be 120dB, another might take 400W and be 130dB, another might take 1000W and be 125dB. It's not as simple as power in equals loudness out.


In regards to the Dynamat, it will stop a small amount of noise escaping, but not much. You need to use a sound blocking material, not a product designed to stop resonating panels.
