finally looking at realistically getting a 2 post hoist for home
the shed is big enough but only have 240v
looking at molnar sm245 in 240v got quoted $6,100 +gst
also considering bendpack gp7 in 240v
does anyone have any comments on home hoists
would prefer to avoid the obviously cheap ones as i would like to live a bit longer
and not to have to sweep up my car if it falls off
thanks
andrew

Bulletpro 4t seems pretty good. Apparently all hoists need to comply with Australian standards to be sold here. I don’t think you’d have too many issues with any on the market for occasional home use. Of course the better brands will last longer (hydraulic seals, electric motor/pump quality etc).

I’d like a molnar one day but that’s a long way off.

Lout where are you looking to buy one from. If i sell my property i am definitely getting a hoist. Also what hieght wall do you need and also what degree pitch roof do you need? I have a 3m wall with probably 15 degree roof and I seriously doubt i have the height in the pitch unless i look at 22 deg or maybe 20 deg.

You also need to consider the floor you are bolting it too, the concrete must be thick enough and meet certain load rating requirements.

i have an american barn
centre section is around 3.5m wide and 5-6m high
i drilled a test hole, slab is 125mm thick
looks like molnar only sell through repco
i will probably get the molnar
but i was budgeting up to $4,000 including the electrician
now looks closer to $7,000

I will ask for 20mpa which should be more than enough.

Yeah you will have no trouble with a barn. I think 3m walls with a 22deg pitch will suffice as long as I place the hoist in the centre and have the apex facing front on. Why do you need an electrician, are you going three phase? How much width does the hoist take up? I heard you lose a metre because of the posts. I'm thinking of building a 10.5m or 12m wide shed by 10.5m deep with three roller doors. I don't particularly like the aesthetics' of barn style shed, hence I will need a higher pitch or 3.6m walls which ever is cheaper. If worse comes to worst I will install a pit again like I have now. Just I get tired of the in and out to grab tools out of the cab when you don't take everything down you need.

hoists are hardwired by an electrician 240v 20a
hoist is 2406mm inside, 3245mm outer dimension, but they reccomend an additional 600mm clearance each side
