I think they call them modules now and the housing is called a module board or sub board. Think mine will be about 15m in length. Good point about the distance I need to make sure the run is not long enough to get voltage drop on 2.5mm2, may still need 4mm2 anyway.

Hoping I can stick with 2.5mm, that way I can squeeze two lines in the same 25mm conduit, just to keep it looking tidy.

Considering a Tuff Lift hoist, single phase, clear floor, screw pads. Hoist is $3500, freight could be as much as $900 going by what other sites are quoting, Tuff Lift estimated $700, waiting for quote from Searoad. Depot pickup and installation will be at least $1000, likely more, plus probably $250-$300 for connecting the power to it.

Have to wonder if it's worth it now, freight has gone through the roof. I think a 15 months ago it was going to be about $350 freight to the depot.

I have asked for a quote from Allen's Hoists Launceston. It will be interesting to see what their price is.

just an update
i love my hoist, best investment i ever made
have had a run of automatic transmission r and r
dont own a transmission jack and probably not worth me buying one
when i took the first trans out i used the hoist to raise and lower the car and the trolley jack under the trans
note there are no hoist safety locks this low, so some red gum sleepers under the hoist carriage as safety stops
while i was talking to the transmission specialist he mentioned when he first started out he would lower the car until a 44 gallon drum was just supporting the weight of the transmission and then unbolt transmission and lift car
that is how i put first one back in and r and r the 2nd one
made it so much easier

I made a cradle, platform that sits on my trolley jack.
Dont have a hoist. Just jack the car up high enough & put on stands. When everything is unbolted, just roll it (tranny) out the back of the car.
So rear is high. But not the front. If front is to high, its hard to reach the bolts.
