this bullshit about diminished responsiblity is rubbish. if you take drugs, drink alcohol, speed.... or any other action, and then kill someone.... why the #### should you get a lesser sentence? no one forced you to speed or drink or take drugs!!! thats the problem with our bloody laws.... dont worry about taking responsibility for your actions, here's an excuse why you arent charged with manslaughter in killing a 15yo kid . I dont understand the distinction? Why isnt it manslaughter? They killed someone accidently as a direct result of their actions.... the kid didnt spontaneously die! 1 yr jail for the driver.... can you imagine how the parents of the dead kid felt about that? I agree Jesterarts, its a damn joke, manslaughter( i thought) was killing someone whilst commiting another illgeal act. It has happened before, will happen again. The only time they will act on it is when it happens to Tony Abbot's daughter, or someelse in the crridoors of power in Canberra.
