Nothing wrong with the ve sv6, my mates drives quite nicely very smooth and goes not too bad
Plenty of engines getting around with big HP figures. Hell I know people with lsx motors revving out to 7k rpm and they are streetable. Depends on how you make it. The alloytec ly7 in standard form has peak power at 6500rpm... are you saying that a standard VE isn't streetable????
Bolt ons "including cams" easily reach 200rwkw.
Peak power is one thing, peak torque is another.
You can't compare the alloytecs to the LS engines, torque delivery is a lot different.
That is what makes an engine streetable at the end of the day, but I guess there is always what the person is willing to compromise.
I'm not putting down V6's either, I have one myself.
Peak torque in some ls engines arrive at 5500rpm
From memory i think the ve's 6L is 4400rpm
Here's how it is.
It is a fairly new motor, with not alot of bolt on mods developed for it, tuning will soon be up to scratch and there will soon be alot more 'proven' methods about how to get power out of these N/A.
As I said, 224rwkw out of a N/A Ecotec. Do the same sort of work to an alloytec and you should see more impressive gains.
Think about it, an Alloytec comes standard with 195kw at the fly. The new VE SV6's 210kw I believe. It is not an unattainable goal to get an extra 40 - 50kw out of an N/A motor with a combination of new exhaust, CAI, Manifold mods, Cam, Shaved heads, new rockers (when they become available) and a solid tune.
Exactly, now check out the torque curves.
Alloytecs dont have rockers i belive
You should go check that.
Care to show me some info? I was only told they havnt got rockers...
Here you go:
Thanks mate, thats looks sick as btw! would be a bitch to change tho lol
I'm not comparing the lsx engines to the ly7 or SIDI. That'd be pointless. Point is, phils ute has reached 250rwkw NA. If an ecotec can reach 220rwkw NA, the alloytec can outdo it mod for mod.
For the 1/4 mile having peak torque and power at high numbers ain't bad as most of the race is in the top end.
Alloytecs do have rockers.
Thanks VT 565 for the awesome pic.
Kuzman those figures are on an engine dyno EG: not rwhp they are flywheel. mate. plus don't forget phil has been through 3 engines already they will make the power but wont last.
Also just to give you guys some reality torque is what matters not HP. a 230rwkw ls1 will run a better quarter mile time then a 250rwkw alloytec. philes best time is like 13.5 in his ute with 250rwkws.
yeah I know it's flywheel, going off what you said earlier in the thread. 3 engines?? How'd he do that?? Not like being revved off its titties??
cause i use to regular talk to phil on the phone bumped in to him at summernats start of 2009 as well.
actually one of his motors let go on the dyno at summernats that year!!
did he diagnos the problem??
the stock bottom end doesn't like 9150rpm revs. when i last spoke to him before i got rid of my sv6 he has developed a new cam profile that he hoped would make the same power around 230-240rwkws but at a lower 8800rpm so the engines would hold out better. don't know how he went haven't spoken to him in like 8 months.
