This is shameful and sadly the way big corporates operate.
Mark Hartland would have been tapped on the shoulder and told to sell the message that the GM Suits in Detroit had decided was the way forward for Holden. If he refused, it would have been career suicide, if he said ok and failed, this resignation is the result. A lose lose for this bloke.
GM should kill off the Holden brand, it no longer has any relevance in this country and people are pissed off that GM presume to tell us what we want.
Just brand the dealers as Chevrolet and be done with it. Consumers can then decide if they want a poorly built American POS or another overseas brand.
It's only the companies that actually listen to their clients (the buyers) that will prosper in this flooded marketplace.

How will rebranding the same product to another name help things? Overall the Chevrolet brand is either totally un known or synonymous with poor quality amongst the public at large.

They need to rebrand, as nothing they sell anymore is a Holden.
Call it Chevrolet, Opel, who cares, the point being it should not be Holden.

Well there's about 500 of them out there somewhere. (According to March sales figures)
I wonder if Dealer demo cars are included in the total sold figure? If yes, that accounts for about half of those 500 sold........... no wonder no ones seen one on the road

Heads are starting to roll at Holden..... Don't expect this to be the last

https://autoaction.com.au/2018/04/0...-director-mark-harland-shock-sudden-departure

Rumour is they have near 6 months un-sold stock either sitting in their yards or on the water which is a complete and utter disaster compared to the 4 - 6 weeks they normally have. I hope they are paying well for the new marketing boss coz I don't see anybody wanting that poison chalice!

"Unhappy with Holden’s disastrous sales slide and serious eroding of its once valuable brand image, Engle and other senior GM management flew into Melbourne on the Saturday of the Australian Grand Prix aboard a GM corporate jet to rattle Holden’s management cages."

So GM's decision to close manufacturing and provide Holden with meh products is all the fault of the marketing team ?

Given Mr Engle's senior positions, where does he sit in the chain of responsibility ?

I don't think GM needs to kill off the Holden name. The Australian motoring public is doing it for them.

Yes they do. That is how the Astra was 3rd (or something similar) on the rankings in December. The dealers more or less registered all the Australian stock as demo's. Great buying on a 2nd hand Astra at the moment with near zero km and 8 months rego if you are in the market for such a thing.

Well, there's currently 200 Holden dealers in Australia. I would assume they all have atleast 1 demo ZB........ maybe even 2......
So realistically, probably around 300 demos.
So they've sold bugger all.
