2001 supercharged electrical problem

my sons WH stato has just started doing a weird thing, when you turn the headlights on, the motor seems to cut out for a millisecond, the radio turns off and comes straight back on, then you get like a humming noise through the speakers, like you need a radio suppressor, any ideas?

Sounds like the battery is shot. Maybe get it load tested to see if it's dropped a cell.
