Heater tap is a pretty common place to leak. Buy the tap along with all new heater hoses that connect to it. Attach the hoses before installing or you will tear your hair out.
Fairly easy job.

Yep, the old faulty heater tap issue, plastic and brittle,
Replace the tap and heater hoses if required,
BUT, be careful of the hoses to the heater core, don’t place any pressure, or twist then, otherwise it will end in tears.

If your smelling coolant in the cab then your heater core must be leaking. Stanley knife will be your friend removing the hose from the core..

Stanley Knife:
Thats of cause if your replacing them [the hoses],
But,
If your just re-sealing them,
Then there is a special tool to loosen them from the heater core pipes,
so you dont damage the heater core pipes, and the hoses, so you can re-use them and seal them.

Good result. ;)
